Alright, in case you haven heard Capcom has come out to say that they're re-releasing Marvel verses Capcom 3 with 8 new maps, 12 new characters ((including Frank West, Phoenix Wright, Ghost Rider and Hawkeye)) rebalancing and spectator mode.

To show that I'm not making this up here's Angry Joe's take on this: http://angryjoeshow.com/2011/08/umvc3-angry-rant/

The propose of this boycott is to show Capcom that they can't do this especially in this age of downloadable content and patches.

I was never planning to buy it anyway, so I guess I'm part of it by my position, but this does seem a good reason to boycot it. If they want to re-release it, fine, but have the other stuff as DLC as well, so both old and new players can benefit fairly

Meh... I will buy it anyway.
That's Capcom we are talking about after all, it's expected that they would pull this shit off.

Because It's gonna get linked to no matter what.

How about no.
I think I'm actually going to go and buy it. Because I enjoyed MvC3, so have traded it in to make the already reduced price, which is less than if the characters were released individually, let alone the balance tweaks and new attacks, seem even less.

I'd probably understand if they were releasing it as a full priced game. But this, not so much.

The rerelease is a budget title ($40) and comes with about what I would expect for $40 worth of DLC, plus and additional copy of the game. I see no reason to nerd rage, and certainly no need to boycott. And seriously, did you not see this coming? This is standard practice with successful fighting games.

Because boycotts work so well.

Maybe we should start a petition too?
yeah that will show those bastards.

And if you're a fighting fan, you should know Capcom would pull this shit. This has happened before, with series that aren't capcom's (looking at you guilty gear), and it's gonna happen again.

It's reduced price anyway. It sucks, but I think the community will get over it.

Plus you'd probably be paying more for all the characters via DLC anyway. Like I said, it's not the ideal situation, but if you really care it's fine.

I plan on boycotting it, why? Because I already have MVC3 -_- And there are so many other games I would rather buy than a rehash of the same game I already have with a little bit of extras, there is no logical reason why this couldn't have all been DLC, none whatsoever.

Because UMvC3 is certifiably, in-every-way objectively WORSE than the last two versions of this scheme; Super Street Fighter 4 and Arcade Edition.

Hey...duplicate threads, eh?

Said it in the other one: I'm not calling it a boycott, but I'm not buying it. The original was far too stripped down and important things like balance should have been done through a patch. The extra characters? Don't care. I wasn't planning on buying more characters, and I can't imagine many people liking half of the new characters. Isn't picking the ones you want better? It's definitely better than releasing an entire new game only nine months later that is incompatible with the original (and therefore divides the online community). But that's other people's choice. I'm not buying it or any more fighters from Capcom again.

Indeed. How DARE Capcom do exactly what they've been doing since Street Fighter II? Really, it's no different, and everyone saw it coming from a mile away. Stop whining. You dont have to buy it.

What's so bad about this game other than someone opinion that it is worse then the other games?

Still gonna get it. I've got more than 150 hours in MvC3, so I think UMvC3 will be worth it.

Most of the people who boycott it will wuss out and buy the game anyway, gamers are fickle like that.

It costs less than the price of a full game and works out at better value than if I bought all the characters seperately.

Ha. No.

I've gotten at least 50-100 hours of enjoyment out of MvC3. I've played that game to no end, and I intend to do the same to UMvC3.

And I hate how upset people are getting about this. Allow me to copy/paste a comment of mine from a past thread:

"The game is coming out at $40. It comes with 12 new characters, and a lot of tweaked/updated features.

Jill and Shuma-Gorath cost $5 each. 12 x 5 = 60. So we are essentially getting 12 $5 characters for $40, plus character balances and other updates. I am okay with this.

The only thing that upsets me is Gambit is not a new character..."

UMvC3 coming out doesn't negate or erase all the fun and enjoyment I got out of MvC3. So why should I boycott what is likely to be a better version of the game? Its stupid. Now, if Capcom were to say, price the game at $60 and only add on two or three characters, then rage all you want. But this... This is a good thing.
