When you break up with someone is it better to be more subtle with someone or be completely blunt.

It's kinda hard to be subtle with a break up. Sure, you can skirt around the issue and try to soften the blow, but eventually you have to say "It's over."

Man, you need to be blunt. Not hurtful in any way, just be honest, tell them it's not working, or whatever. But don't beat around the bush and give them false hope.

Best to be as clear as possible, otherwise they might get the wrong idea and think of it more as being led on and will continue to harass you.

I say be more blunt. I just tell them up-front about it. There's really no reason to try to make a bunch of things to lead up to it, since that will just make it worse than it has to be in most cases.
