Poll: Breast feeding

I don't think it's a problem, but I know other might find something wrong with it. So if there's a cloth or garment that a woman can wear where they can comfortably feed the child in public without displaying the feeding to others, I think this wouldn't be so much of an issue.

If women can whip out a breast and feed a kid because it's a natural thing, then why can't a man whip out his thing and pee ...peeing is natural too lol. But in all seriousness I think if a woman has to breastfeed in public (and they dont have a bottle) then they should have one of those special shirts or baby slings that lets you slip the baby up to your breast and still keep it hidden. Of even just a little towel or burping rag and hang it over the side you are feeding on. People say "oh you could just not look"... well the mother could also just not feed her child in the middle of the food court where everyone is as well... >_>;

Well, I am personally fine with women walking around topless (why the hell is this still illegal in the states?), so I see no problem with it. I find the "controversy" over it inane.

canada, my good friend. its very legal here. women can even strut around topless, if they so choose, thanks to a petition or something.

I don't find women breastfeeding babies in public offensive at all. However, I've had the misfortune of working in a cafe where a woman came in and sat down (without ordering anything) and started breastfeeding her child who was at the very least 3 years old, but could also easily have been 5. Never seen the place empty so quickly. If they're old enough to ask for it, they're too old!

Was it as weird as that scene in Game of Thrones?

Breastfeeding in public is a problem for some people? Huh. Well, I don't care at all what they do with their breasts. I don't have to stare if it's uncomfortable for me for some reason.

All that is irrelevant, No one is suggesting that women shouldn't breast feed. they're only suggesting have a little consideration for other people and try not to do it in a public place in front of strangers.

When your at home feel free to breast feed whoever you want. But when you go outside just bring a bottle of it with you so that if there isn't anywhere more secluded and out of the way you can go you can feed from a bottle. The baby is still be breast feeding over 90% of the time. But on the odd occasion when you on a bus or whatever he can drink the same breast milk out of a bottle.

The one that needs heating before the baby can have it.
The one that will go off if it's not used today.

So, breastfeeding mothers should be pumping in the morning every day they think they might be out in public with the baby, right?
Just so some prudes don't get offended?

What should they do if they think they might be out of the house long enough that the baby may need 2 feeds? Pump for twice as long?

I don't know, teach the baby to use a straw or something then. I know fuck all about breast feeding, never claimed that I did. All I'm doing is coming up with suggestions. if they donlt work then politely explain why. breast emissions aren't really my forte.

ive personally got nothing against breastfeeding in public whatsoever... considering my sister a few months ago had her own baby.. she has discovered she absolutely loves breastfeeding and its a really close bond with her son so yea ... it adds that extra layer of closeness imo.

I understand why it would be fine, and why it's becoming less of a stigma these days, but at the same time, I think I'd be uncomfortable around someone doing it.

I'm sorry I couldn't resist...Now that I got that out. My real answer is: I don't have a problem with it. If the woman wants to feed her child from her breast that's her choice. I don't think a few people feeling 'offended' should even be an issue. People can and will be offended at the smallest things. Hell I pissed off a guy once cause my hands were still kinda wet when I came out a bathroom.

I don't see what the problem is. If the kid's hungry, feed it. Personally, I hate it more when a baby is wailing high-pitched and non-stop. If the nipple shuts them up, all the better. Proven to be healthier for them anyway.

I mean, guys grab their junk in public all the time (You know, to make sure it's there. Or, to a lesser extent, scratch an itch). No one has a problem with this. It's much healthier for the baby and promotes bonding between the mother and baby. There is a big movement in the NHS at the moment to get mothers to breast feed because quite frankly its so much better for both the baby and the mother.

I guess guys need to think about what is best for the children rather than there own personal embarrassment.

My opinion is sorta...mixed. It's like, yeah a woman shouldn't have to go in the bathroom or whatnot to feed her kid, but she should at least cover herself with a blanket or something so people don't have to stare at boob while they're waiting for their milkshake at the McDonalds.

No. The problem with quoting one line of what I said and apparently not reading the rest of it is that you miss the point. I am pro breast feeding and said so.

All I pointed out was that it was false to say the only option to breast feeding is formula. For most women who breastfeed, that's simply wrong.

I also said most women who breast feed in public do so in an appropriately modest way so that it isn't an issue anyway most of the time.

I was replying to the "but then you can bottle breast milk too you know".

I am so tired of people assuming than pumping is an easy option, or even an option at all for everybody. This is not directed at you specifically, I just happened to push the quote-button on your post. It could just as easily have been any of the other posts about pumping being equal to feeding from the breast.

Have you considered sending unsolicited suggestions to ITER as to how to solve technical problems?

The NHS is the National Health Service in Britain. It's a free health service we pay for through our taxes. So when you go to hospital you get the treatment you need no matter how expensive it is.
