I wonder to those who are fine with it. Is it ok for me to wolf call and hoot at her. If she does not care if she make other uncomfortable should I have to care about her wants.

I've heard all the arguments. I answer with this:

If I can be cited for public indecency for urinating in public, how is it different?

You are exposing something linked to Sex in a public place. I don't care what your motivations are. Frankly, there are less sex fetishes involved with Urination than there are with Lactation at this point, and both are 'natural acts'.
I would think that public urination would have more to do with public health and sanitation rather than "ew a penis!"

In a perfect world, we'd just make the naked female breast not automatically equal "filthy, FILTHY sex". Problem solved (and imho we'd be a better society for it)

I'd rather see a compromise. Allow various shop owners decide whether or not they want to allow breastfeeding. If not, put a sign in the window "No breastfeeding please". No sign means that it's a-ok. The presence or absence of this sign might cause other customers to avoid their shop as well.

Yeah I think that's the thing that gets to me. If you pull them out in public, you got to be prepared for some people (especially young boys) to be like "Wow! What the hell are those?!". It's kind of like the whole "just because I dress like a slut, doesn't make me a slut" argument some women use for how they dress.

So would the correct comment be:

"62 people don't like boobs"?

Cuz thats what it sounds like.
(and 74 people don't give a fuck, interesting)

Got no problem with it. Where I live it is legal for both men and women to go topless. I'm not 100% sure, but I think women's breasts were used for feeding before they were used for pleasure.

Also for the people who are arguing that women should "come prepared", its been asked, what if the mother forgets to pack a bottle? Most parents of newborns are sleep deprived and running on instincts, they don't always have time to double check they have formula prepared. Also, not every women likes the idea of having a machine pump her. It is a very wierd sensation and to some owmen unnatural. Are you going to punishm them because they don't want to feel like dairy cattle?

"I would think that public urination would have more to do with public health and sanitation rather than "ew a penis!"

Except, what about public mental health? When we are bombarded with images ten feet high that say BREASTS! THEY ARE EROTIC AND ALL THAT MEN SHOULD ADORE! then perhaps it should also be understood that *that is how we will see them*.

"In a perfect world, we'd just make the naked female breast not automatically equal "filthy, FILTHY sex". Problem solved (and imho we'd be a better society for it)"

Penis. Same thing. However, I don't see anyone fighting for it. Indeed, if I decided to change clothing in public and revealed my penis, *I would be charged and probably arrested* for it. Is there something inherently wrong with the need to change clothing? Perhaps I was walking down the street and a passing truck doused me in filthy water.

But, no- *I* can't do that, it's terrible! No one seems to care *why* you reveal a penis, but every excuse gets made for breast-feeding?

What kind of double-standard is that? Where a random woman somewhere can decide that because *she* feels convenience, she can make a reality-changing statement and *everyone else* has to abide by it?

I agree on the compromise, but the problem is that most women who are capable of it already do so. The ones who insist- Nay! demand - to do so in public don't care. They want what they want and everyone else has to abide by it or the flamewars begin.

There a joke out there that Dave Cheppel did. "That like me dressing up like a cop and then you run up to me after you get robbed. just becuase I'm dressed like a cop does not mean I am one." It is true but it confusing.

Men are allowed to be shirtless in public, and they don't even use their nipples for anything. Why not let women breastfeed in public?
Often they aren't. Most supermarkets etc. ban shirtless men.

The problem is that you're arguing with a natural act. Unless you can find a detrimental point to it, then you've no chance of even getting heard.

There are reasons why it shouldn't happen. There are reasons why it is a hell of a lot easier for it to happen.

There's also plain courtesy, but that's being pushed out due to "rights". There's enough controversy about pregnancy already. Breastfeeding is one of the low priority targets.

That's a pretty terrible analogy. A better analogy would be changing your shirt, which would be considered tactless but not obscene (or illegal). That is the double standard. I mean have you seen a fat guy without a shirt? May as well be breasts.

I'm pretty sure if it made it to the Supreme Court women would be given chest equality, but they keep winning at local levels and can't appeal to the SCOTUS.

Where I live it's legal for women to go topless anywhere it's legal for men to, so I suppose a problem with breastfeeding in public is a minor issue here in comparison to where you may live.

I however have never encountered a woman breastfeeding in public, and if I were to find it awkward I suppose I'd blame it on the fact seeing any topless female in public is generally something I'm unaccustomed to.

(Sure it's legal to go topless here, but it's barely above 0c 6 months of the year, who wants to run around without a shirt in that kind of weather?!)

I must ask though, what specifically is it you find so disturbing? The exposure of breasts in a public environment or the act itself?

Should be legal. I might find it a bit gross, but my personal views shouldn't get in the way of babies gettin' some.

Yeah, that's where I was getting it from. Someone posted the video in the "Is Chivalry Dead?" forum topic. Like anything, I don't care as long as people shut up about it. For example, I don't care if someone is gay but if they are the loud "I'm gay and I'm proud and I'm going to make sure every single damn person knows it" type they can fuck right off.

I really don't care. I'm more concerned about Mecha Godzilla and a 80-foot Jesus fighting downtown then a women who takes out her boobs in public to feed her child.

Actually maybe I should care about that... But then I'd miss Mecha Godzilla and 80-foot Jesus fighting downtown... DAMN YOU LORD! WHY MUST YOU TEST ME SOOOOOO!

I don't mind, so long as they din't mind me staring. But then, if they are doing it in public, i don't think they care if someone watches :p

Women should keep it private, now I'm not saying they can't do it in public, but I think they should go off to the side and do it, seeing as women are supposed to wear shirts in most cultures it's just common courtesy to not do it right up next to people.

But I will call people on it, it's like a fat dude whipping off his shirt, yea.... he can, but its known that it makes people uncomfortable and you don't get any special consideration for it.

I don't really have a problem with the concept but at the same time i don't want to get shit for doing a double take or staring for a moment. I'm not trying to be a perve i just wasn't expecting to turn the corner and see a tit. I don't care what the situation is, if your a guy and you suddenly encounter a boob out of no where your like to stare for a moment if only to allow your mind to process what your seeing.

Mothers with young children go through a lot (before and after birth), the least we can d is give them some slack when it comes to breat-feeding rather than passing judgement on them.
