Poll: Breath of Fire Series

Oh it wasn't that bad. I enjoyed it. Different but it was still a fun game to me. Now play paladin's quest, now that game was balls.

I miss BOF2.
Bought part 3 for the PSP this summer and it's still an awesomely fun game.
I'm not sure though, but in Sweden the games have generally been butchered by the press when they bring them up a couple of years later.

it would be fun to see the series again, but they'd need to find the right team for it. Plus I'm not sure what sort of world they should go for.

Breath of fire series is awesome and has tradionally (imo of course) always had the better fighting systems then its jrpg contempories, what with you being able to transform into a dragon and all that.
Only BoF dragon quarter i hated, but not a reason to condemn series entirely.

So yeh would love for BoF to make a return.

I loved the breathe of fire series, everygame was a joy and would love either a PSP/DS collection of the 2d ones or a new game with snes style graphics.

I've discovered by replaying the first 2 star ocean games, persona 1 and 2 on psp and replaying my snes library on my PC that no matter how good graphics get, the snes style never gets dated and looks great even today while I find it hard to play PS2 games and psOne looks terrible. Besides, the breathe of death and chuthlu games are awesome so I don't see a problem with them making it.

BoF3 has the silt sea and BoF 4 was Dragon Quarter, yeah? DQ fucking sucked...
Never knew there was a BoF 5, but I might have played it... not sure.

Edit; ah, no.4 was the silt sea one i liked and the sucky DQ one was 5.

~but yeah, they need to bring that shit back as a KH or Sammy Musashi styled action/platformer.

I liked BOF I a lot, and BOF II is one of my favorite RPGs and one of my favorite games it also seemed to be provocative to me. I also quite liked BOF III, one of my happiest moments was getting it on rental and it also was big into me getting a PS1, I hardly got to play BOF IV and never really got to play BOF: Dragon Quarter. So, I will say that I am interested to see a new game in the series.

I don't even know what system it continued on after 2... but I loved the first two games. Still, there would be a lot of catching up for me to do. I think I'm satisfied with replaying the ones I know every few years.

Absolutely. I enjoyed all of them even if the first two suffer from standard JRPG conventions of the time now and BoF2 has poor character balancing. Sadly a return is unlikely after Dragon Quarter's poor sales and Capcom being in the state it's in. If it ever did come back they'd probably want to move the combat beyond turn-based since most people don't like that anymore, maybe ATB?

Breath of Fire 3 is one of my favorite games of my life! It was flawless just every detail perfect! I haven't played any of the others but I did download BoF 4 on psn. I haven't played it yet because I'm afraid it won't be as good as 3.

Im inclined to agree with pretty much everything you said about 3. BoF3 was one of those childhood-defining video games that I absolutely loved with every fiber of my being. Its one of the greats of our time, up there on my list with Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI.

I liked 1, loved 2, never finished 3 but thought it was ok (I always lose interest after 10 or 20 hours), didn't last more than 4 or 5 hours in 4 and never tried 5.

I would welcome a return but one thing I hated in the first two games (and maybe this was in the other 3 as well), was the extra life that enemies had after you killed them. That was cool at first but by the middle of the first game I was sick of it.

Breath of Fire is a great series. The only sad part in its life was Dragon Quarter.

Fact, why did they even call it Dragon Quarter? I have to fight to point out that a BoF4 exists and that it's good.

I joked with a friend a while back that with each Breath of Fire game, Ryu becomes less dragon in his transformations. They need to pull out the big guns and bring out a down-to-earth oldschool Dragon-based Breath of Fire. It doesn't have to be 2d, it can stay like BoF 3 and 4. Just... You know... With plot like the first few games. And characters with abilities that can effect things on the main map. That was fun.

I recall playing a PS2 game, I think it was BoF, and thinking 'da hell is THIS crap'.
