The story confused me enough with just Soul Reaver 1 & 2. Great games, but my mind probably couldn't handle another one.

Unless they brought back Vorador. He had the most ridiculously expressive ears in SR2.

though it had it's problems i was compelled to play defiance mostly for characters and story over gameplay and combat (which was a bit crap) so i guess if a sequel/remake/whatever had the epic feel of recent action adventure games like god of war etc then it would be freakin great

I'd like to see it just to get an ending to the story. They could make the gameplay a Tomb Raider copy and I would still play it if the story kept the high standards of the previous games.

I love the Legacy of Kain series. One of my all time favourite game series. The storytelling and voice acting were incredible for their time.

Oh hell yes, I would love to see another installment of "battle of the dueling English majors" - Defiance ended on an real monster of a cliffhanger, and there are so many things we've never had answered!

Unfortunately, in the interim Tony "the Eldar God" Jay has shuffled off this mortal coil, and I'm not sure how you'd make the Legacy of Kain game I'd want to see without the Eldar God, given the direction the story has taken, and who else could possibly play that role?

Ah who am I kidding, as long as Simon Templeman is on board as Kain I would play a game that actively jabbed me under the fingernails every 5 minutes, just to hear him talk some more.

They could remake them. But for fuck's sake... please leave the fucking puzzles out.

Seriously. The puzzles in Blood Omen 2 and Defiance still haunt me. Why would someone do such a thing? And why the hell did I go through it?

Vorador did feature in Defiance. You can't have a game about the fall of the vampire race without featuring the first "new" vampire.

OT: I would have to say no to another LoK game. I've played a good bit of Blood Omen and beaten all three with Raziel, and another game added on to the series would be a mistake for a number of reasons.

1. The loss of Tony Jay, voice of the Elder God. The best attempt to replace him would still fail.
2. The fate of Raziel. The events in Defiance mean that the next sequel would be Blood Omen 3 rather than Defiance 2, and I liked the juxtaposition of the two similar, yet different characters.
3. The arbitrary power strip. You know, that bit in every game these days that explains just why the previously devastatingly bad-ass character resets to weak-sauce. It would be even more arbitrary and ridiculous than before, and considering why Kain is extra bad-ass now, that is something that shouldn't be lost.
4. All territory explored. We've traipsed all over Nosgoth in bat form, wolf form, mist form, spectral form, Nosgoth's bleak past, Nosgoth's bleak present, Nosgoth's bleak future, and even a pocket Hell dimension. We've been everywhere, eaten or drank everyone, so there wouldn't be much new in another sequel, and we wouldn't want another of our favorite franchises sequelled to death, now would we?

all i have to say is remake the blood omen series, ive never seen such a complex but enjoyable storyline and an amazing character with a great voice. another plus is kain isnt those pussy vampires (twilight) and, you know, actually kills people and drinks their blood.

I dont know if a lot of you will agree with me, or maybe even alot of you will remember the series; but I believe they should bring back the Legacy Of Kain series. Im talking of Soul Reaver, Blood Omen 1 & 2 and of course Defiance.

I recently have gone through parts of Defiance, its enjoyable enough to continue playing; but my most memorable time with the series was playing as Kain in Blood Omen 2; mist walking then doing an assassination was pure genious even as simple as it was.
Take a look at my avatar. Bear in mind that I use this same avatar (or a variation) on almost every forum I frequent, and have done so for roughly the past decade. This should be an indication of how much I love the Legacy of Kain series, especially Soul Reaver games. Therefore, you might better appreciate my answer to the title of your thread:

NO!

It doesn't need a sequel. It doesn't need a prequel. The story is pretty well rounded out. Most loose ends are squashed. There truly is no point in dragging the franchise out again. They were great games, but they don't need a sequel.

Oh god.

Alright, I -loved- Blood Omen. It was a kinda clunky zelda-like thing, okay, it had its flaws, but the dialogue was so delicious it made the trip utterly worth the journey. It told a complete story from beginning to end. Sure, it left room for another story, but that didn't matter. The story got told.

Then, somehow, the ability to tell a story got forgotten.

Soul Reaver had all sorts of promise. It -felt- like a story was being told. Sure, it was a bit buggy at parts, and there were sections of the game that were completely superfluous, but whatever it was cool and I enjoyed it. Then I got to the end and I realized there was no story.

What I had spent the entire time playing was an incomplete story. Not even an episode where a minor conflict is resolved before openning a major conflict. No.

The story of Soul Reaver went like this: You're angry, you kill some vampires, let's travel through time now.

So, do I want -yet another- incomplete game to be foisted out on me with a 'to be continued' sticker on it? Hell no.

I hate it when they do that.

Let Legacy of Kain die. It had its chance. It's over. Vae Victus.

Although I would love to see the series re-born and revitalized; I'm thinking about everyone who opposes the idea's validity, as to where there is very good reason for it not to be re-made/re-mastered.

Even though I wish it would come true, I'd hate to see what present companies would do with it as to where were now a multiplayer focused-gaming nation, I fear that someone would try to put co-op into Blood Omen or Defiance and twist it to a way it should not be messed with.

In all honesty, I'd still love to see the series reappear, it still has many fans, and Im pretty sure alot of the people who havent heard of it have at least looked at it because of similar threads/postings.

Theres always good reasons for both sides so Im now torn between the two since theres been great arguements for either choice.
