So I'm dirt poor this month and I'm torn. On the one hand I could spend next month being a sulky cop battling corruption in post-war Los Angeles OR I could be a nimble Resistance hacker fighting for my right to party on a floating city. I'll get both in time but I figured us escapists are an opinionated lot and wondered which one you would pick to buy on release if you were in my position?

Brink looked cool until I saw a video of it's horrendous gunplay mechanics, and read about the awful things they were doing to sniper rifles.

LA Noire looked good until I heard about how the devs decided my sixty dollars wasn't good enough for the whole game, and it now requires two separate purchases to fully own. It will get neither from me.

So, Dead Island, then.

Was interested in Brink but then I realized The Witcher 2 releases the week after so I am no longer interested in Brink at all.

I'm guessing that LA Noire will probably be the better game, but you would probably want to get Brink at the beginning of it's lifecycle, while there's still a ton of people playing, and any balance issues or exploits aren't really well known or used yet.

So I would say that if you intend to get both games get Brink first, since it's multiplayer, and get LA Noire later, since you don't lose anything by getting a singleplayer game later in its lifespan.

L.A Noir is pretty much my dream game, and from what I've seen it has the potential to live up to it. Brink looks pretty damn fun too.

You know what, I ain't gonna choose, I'm going to get both.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, what's this about L.A. Noire? Care to clarify?

EDIT: Also, provide a source. I haven't heard anything about this "two separate purchases" thing.

L.A. Noire.
From what I've seen of Brink (Admittedly not that much, but the same goes for L.A. Noire), it looks bad.
Much worse then L.A. Noire, at least.

I think Brink has more potential to be a let down.

I have high hopes, but low expectations, for both.

LA Noire isn't coming out for PC, Brink is kinda stylish but basically simpler version of TF2 with more customization so yeah, Witcher 2

There are different exclusive cases for people who preorder from Gamestop or Amazon [http://www.destructoid.com/rockstar-offers-a-variety-of-l-a-noire-pre-order-bonuses-194990.phtml] as well as a exclusive case for people who preorder for the PS3 [http://www.destructoid.com/l-a-noire-may-be-getting-exclusive-content-on-ps3-198738.phtml]. There are also more typical bonuses from other retailers (suits and whatnot). What this does is make it so no one will get the full mission content, even if you order a collector's edition for the PS3 and from Gamestop.

... Oh no? You'll miss out on one or two missions? That, mind you, I heard will be day one DLC (which I'm not hugely fond of, but isn't some Satanistic practice.)

So it's just people bitching about that, even though Rockstar is known for excellent quality games.

Yeah.

Gonna start ignoring the bitching now.

What horrendous gunplay do you speak of? And what are they doing to my precious sniper rifles?

I've got a good feeling about Brink, I might buy L.A Noir later on when I get enough money.

Different retailers have different preorder bonuses so unless you buy it twice you will miss out on a non-key, most definitely generic, quickly thrown together for use in a bonus deal, mission.
