Do you see this?
It's Marty Jones vs Super Tiger...
Jones was one of the best technical wrestlers to come out of your country during the late 80's.
And yet you probably don't even know who he IS.
Britain's Pro Wrestling has been some of the most influential on the industry, creating and inspiring some of the best technical performances of all time. From the United States, to Mexico and even Japan, men such as these have been leading the way for future generations of wrestler for years.
And yet you're told that World of Sport was something "that your gran watched"...
With fat men colliding into each other, every Sunday afternoon...
(Exhibit A)

And what have they given you since?
Singing contests judged by Stock Aitken Waterman leftovers?
Public gawping fests where the most "talented" person is the one who gets the most likes on Facebook?
Celebrity Meltdown fiesta?
A show about a group of middle aged men gawking about cars like teenagers?

Your country's tv, and by extension everyone's, is quickly becoming a Black Mirror, from which little of substance can escape, where everything is packaged and imported and exported in neat little bundles, with nothing even remotely dangerous or unexpected...

We need to change that for you guys...
You need to take a big swig of the WILD HONEY that is Pro Wrestling.
More importantly, you need to start brewing your own before it gets any good.

Not that you haven't.

While you were sleeping, your wrestling scene went Indy. Now, some of the top talents in the world from the UK have to slum it in boxing halls, living off of foreign tours because there are more Americans and Japanese who know who they are than than there are Englishmen.
Look at what you've missed! Look at what your "powers that be" turned their backs on!
I'm an American, born several years after WOS was cancelled, and yet I've probably seen more than you've even heard of!
You need this. You need this on your tv's more than anything.
To British Escapists:
Start doing your own research.
Look for guys like PAC, Jody Fleisch, Doug Williams, Mark Rocco
Look up things like the FWA, and 1PW.
Better yet, find a wrestling show near you and go support the legacy that was ROBBED from you, likely before you were even born.
Most of all, DEMAND more of your TV networks. Tell them that your tired of safe, normal, reality TV. Tell them to give the people something natural and wild.

oh wait, I have to add one of these:
Discuss:
Pro wrestling
and the above, you know?

lemme get this straight...you want to save British TV...a medium most people with more than 3 brain cells would say should be encapsulated by the historical "educate, inform and entertain" ethos of the BBC...with "pro wrestling"?...

i haz not the words...

edit - the BBC "DG" Mark Thompson is stepping down soon. replace him with Stephen Fry or failing that John Lloyd. there's my 2 cents on the subject of how to greatly improve British TV.
I admit, there have been a metric F' ton of good British TV shows, more so than almost any American network can lay claim to. But let's look at everything that's come inbetween:
Celebrity Big Brother, Hollyoaks, Brittania High, Whatever, Casualty, Eastenders, everything involving Michael Parkinson ever (except ghostwatch).
Just a cursory watching of screenwipe is all the evidence I really need, to see that you guys need something different.
Besides why is pro wrestling so bad? Did you watch the FWA clip I posted?
It's just a very important part of the cultural legacy that you've left the world, and I don't like seeing it be ignored by the very people from whence it came.

Wrestling really does nothing for me, black mirror however actually gets me slightly aroused thinking about how awesome it is.

Its not that its bad, its that out here we have alot lobbying groups who dont want it.

Its all the same 'promotion of violence' nonsense, but after the riots last year theese people are getting alot more support.

No thanks, I'm not interested in trashy talent shows or pro-wrestling. I like satire and documentaries, and that's it.

Leave Top Gear alone. especially since you're advocating pro wrestling, which if anything, is more immature and pandering than Top Gear ever was.

Leave my boys alone.

I hate TV, but I hate wrestling more. Give me games any day of the week, far more entertaining.

Lets see we have produced Shakespeare, Blake, Milton, Auden, Austen, Dickens, Trollope, Pinter, Osborne, Bennett, Betjeman and Plater. All of those names have either written for UK TV or have had there works produced on UK TV and you think a very important part of our cultural legacy is fake wrestling. I suggest you stop watching wrestling and watch things like this

Oh no, I don't get to watch sweaty homoerotic men crotch grabbing on a regular basis.

Instead I am forced to watch such nonsense as Sherlock, Silent Witness, Doctor Who (if you're into that sort of thing), The Office, Downton Abbey, Top Gear, A Question of Sport, QI (fucking QI!), Being Human, Merlin, Extras, Misfits, Skins, Have I Got News For You (Christ, I'm barely past H), Later with Jools Holland, the original and so much better Life on Mars, Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Would I Lie to You.

That's just the BBC 2 programmes that I watch.

I think I will take my inferior programming over your clearly faked 'professional' wrestling and leave.

Sorry but British TV already has enough sport and to be perfectly honest nearly all of it is more intellectually and physically taxing than shitty, shitty pro-wrestling.

Nobody wants your crap non-sport soap opera for over-compensating men.

No thanks, I'll stick to my TV Drama's, comedy shows and things that aren't SHIT!

Seriously, wrestling is shit, I mean wow!

I can't think of a reason other than it's shit.

People in latex outfits/nappies attacking one another is not good television!
