Well, I'm new; so I might as well contribute a little. But I would like my thread to be a little bit more useful than frivolous. I've noticed that MLP fans are quite prevalent on this website; so much so, that they've earned a mention (possibly for the wrong reasons) at The Q&A With the Escapists panel. They're are also mentioned on the official mug for The Escapist. I am quite curious as to why they like the programme, but that may be a discussion for another time...

So, in short: how many Bronies or Hoofsisters do you know (of) on The Escapist Website?

EDIT: Apparently it's called a Pega-sis, not a Hoofsister. Oh, well.

Well, for those of us who are regulars in the pony usergroup here, the answer is going to be quite a few.

The group has over 1600 members.
Of course, there are also people who are in the Pony closet and won't come out to admit it...

OT: If there's 1600 in the group, I'd say 2000 is a fair estimate

To my knowledge, I know zero bronies/hoofsisters/pega-si/whatever the hell they want to be called. I know that the user group exists but if we all put down how many of these people we know of, it would all end up being over twenty since there are at least twenty people in that group.

I found the show incredibly boring but more power to you if you liked it and...uh...I'm not sure what else there is to say here...so...uh...hmmmm.........Go Vikings!

EDIT: Before anyone asks (if anyone actually cares :), I have seen *one episode. Some Escapist peeps were trying to figure out the "best episode for showing people how good the show was" and I, being someone who couldn't care less about this particular kids show, volunteered. As I'm sure my attitude above illustrates, it did absolutely nothing for me.

*The episode was Rainbow Dash trying to do some super move and some other jerk-ponies kept calling her "Rainbow Crash" if you were wondering which episode it was.

I don't know any in real life. As for the Escapist, I think Topaz Fusion is a brony, so there's him. :D

Well, the group Topaz mentioned is filled with regulars, of which I'm one, so I'd say...

10-12, maybe? Seems a bit high for me, but I'm erring on the side of caution, as I haven't actually counted the number of people I talk to on a regular basis there. I'll say 6-10 and leave it at that.

Also, there is no rule that states a female cannot be a bro, so Brony can refer to female fans as well (and sometimes does). It's all dependant on what the person themselves wants to be called. Some don't even identify with the label, merely calling themselves fans. We're (mostly) a tolerant bunch, us pony fans, so it's all good.

Also also, I think ponies are a thing with Escapist because Susan Arendt is into them, though she was into ponies (whether real or fictional, I don't actually know) long before the current trend. So yeah, nothing to do with the show...I think. I could be wrong (someone correct me if I am).

And now, I leave this thread with a pony:

Oh yeah, and 60's Spiderman.

EDIT: On consultation of my friends list, I have 16 people on there that are confirmed fans of the show, so there's that. 16 it is then.

There's more than one group, too.

Interesting question. I just figured some of us are, some of us aren't. I really didn't bother listing names on a mental roster.
Guess I can't vote in the poll without an accurate number to submit, so... yeah.

...Wait, we are talking about the old Norsemen with the stereotypical horned helmets, battleaxes, and longboats, right?

In addition to the MLP chat group, there's also the NLR (new lunar republic) group, which is much smaller but has several members who aren't part of the main chat group.

Though we tend to get exiled to our chat groups. Other users really don't like pony threads, which I see a lot of in the not too distant future, what with the new season coming up.

While the chat group has about 1600 members, I would venture to say there are only (maybe) 50 or so actual active members in the group.

I'd like to thank those 24 voters for taking their time to input information. I'd also like to thank the 9 who commented as well, I had no idea that there was a group for bronies.
I hope that my future threads will be at least, or even more, sucessful.

Thank You.

I'd say there's 3 or 4 Bronies that I talk to on a daily basis in various user groups (including Topaz), then there's a load more that I may talk to regularly or semi-regularly. If I take a gander into the MLP group for example.

Plus the rather large amount of people who have pony avatars.

what the fuck, you actually call yourselves hoofsisters? I seriously don't have anything against MLP except all the stupid goddamn names.

Yeah, I kinda wish the whole brony name thing didn't end up being taken seriously.

Lesson Zero is a better one to start with since it has one of the main ponies going crazy.

The only people I know who watch the show IRL are my roommates who got me into it in the first place. As for the Escapist, I can only say I'm friends with one person, and I have no idea whether or not she watches the show. So let's call it two.
