I've yuet to play it, but it's good because all I've seen so far has made me laugh.

A game can play badly if I'm too busy pissing myself laughing to notice. I might alter that opinion once I've got some time playing it though.

Apparently its more Overlord stlyed RTS than as hack and slashy as thought, Accoriding to Adam Sessler anyways. (He didnt say Overlord, but from what Ive seen, its similar)

It becomes more of an RTS than a hack n' slash as it goes on.

Actually its much less hack and slash as its an RTS light. To better explain, you're going to spend more time in a pikmin or overlord style gameplay than you will running around chopping shit up with your axe(the sharp one, not the guitar). You can of course opt to just tear stuff up with the axe, but you will find yourself quickly out numbered in later levels where they send cluster fucks of enemies at you.
I'm sorry for sounding like an elitist (and furthering my fanboyishness), but this is what I consider RTS...
I mean, look at that guy! He's killing lurkers with marines!

Anyway, I've got no qualms about renting it or visiting a friend who has it. I just don't think I'll buy it at full price.

Good for you. I am merely trying to describe a game. And technically, any non turn based game where you may have to think things out is really a RTS.
Its real-time strategy, not real-time overhead micromanagement strategy game using units and buildings, aka RTOMMSGUUAB.

I'm not into metal, and I AM into hating Jack Black. Ive seen the rythm game section of it, and rythmgaming is not videogaming. I like quick bursts of hack'n'slash, like one mission at a time in a period of 3 days. And personaly the RTS aspect of it is... well, Spore-ish. Tim targeted a specific type of gamer here, and I'm not him. So me? Bad game. Good and bad are objective terms anyway.

It definitly looks interesting. If I get enough money I'll rent it. It just dosen't look like somthing that is really worth a 60 dollar price tag. Although I'm thinking of also renting the Saw game seeing as how it is getting good reviews.

Ok but Brutal Legend still has enough RTS elements to be considered one. Therefore the phrase used to describe it will be RTS. Call it what you will though.

And meh, Starcraft wasn't that great. I'll take Warcraft III over it any day.

Tim Schaeffer is a genius, and I loved Psychonauts. So I have to say that the game is solid gold.

I only played the Demo, so feel free to disregard anything I say as heresy.

The humor was there, the game looks very nice, but it just fell flat for me. I suppose it would be a lot more fun if you're a fan of Jack Black or Metal, but for me it was no Psychonauts.

I did it, it was FUCKING AWESOME

it reminded me how much 80's Metal meant to me, I got back in touch in my Heavy Metal roots

Except it is.
And there really isn't enough of it in Brutal Legend for you to get your panties in a twist about its inclusion.

The soundtrack makes me want to just drive around in the car and not do anything else.
Exactly how I get. I actually don't want to stop and do the side missions or anything that stops the music from my car, so when I finish whatever it was I have to go back and make sure I finish the song!

The only thing keeping me from buying this game immediately is the Hack & Slash style gameplay. Everything else is pure gold on a stick.
It's actually more of an open world RTS with some hack n slash thrown in.

I love it so far, it's funny, fun and a metalhead's wet dream.

Though I nearly puked when I heard that it would have RTS elements, (I hate multitasking NPCs in games) they seem to be pretty simple to use and dare say it... fun.

Ha, same here. I spent an hour and a half driving around setting dragons on fire and raising metal statues before I went near the mine... biggest problem was trying to pick which song to play. I've gone through Children of the Grave about 12 times already...

I only put great because Awesome is at the bottom :( BL is one of the best games I've played on my 360. I love the story and the mythology of the world it is so rich, the gameplay does become repetive but in a familiar rather than grind-like way IMO.

It's so awesome you will want to send some kind of gift basket to Tim Schafer in gratitude. The main reason I've found that people don't want to get it, and they haven't said this in these words, it's not safe and familiar so they're afraid. You don't really have to be a metal fan to enjoy it. People had this problem with Psychonauts. It wasn't what people were used to so they dismissed it.

Meh. Their loss.
