Poll: call of duty: 4 vs. call of duty world at war

How does being "hardcore" or "casual" equivalent to which game you prefer...? They are the same game set in a different time zone...!

Simple, casual gamers are the ones who play a game usually on hype, and buy it just because there friends are going to also.

Hardcore on the other hand will usually play the BETTER game.

Are you kidding me, COD 4 received significantly more hype than COD:WaW and the games are near identical...

CoD4 has a american fighting impossible odds, getting ambushed ever 3 minutes, but because he is american, he fights them off?

Or for that matter, aside from the history factor, treyarch didn't make a game at all, they copied and pasted CoD4, made a WWII mod and did a few other things, THATS why Infinity Ward are breaking off from the CoD franchise, sooner or later treyarch will drop CoD because they can't do it right.

Say for agruements sake, you have created an invention that gets you rich, then someone copys it but adds there thoughts to it, that would piss you off, da?

Now hardcore gamers usually play good games as i pointed out, BUT (mostly) they won't play a sell-out game, a copy, due to there...well experience of gaming.

Casuals just pick up a game a play, they won't look at the finer details of a game.

Depends on what you want, if you want a great story and online play, go for Modern Warfare.
If you want some awesome co-op madness with some nazi-zombies, go for World at War.

Played through both campaigns on Veteran. WaW was more difficult, but that's because I played it on vet first time round. I enjoyed the MW one much more though. I can't stand WW2 shooters, no idea why, but I just can't so the whole experience was sort of ruined for me there - not to mention the fact that the guns seemed to fire at a strangely slow rate.

The multiplayer though MW has to win hands down. The only reason WaW has still survived is because of xbox fanboys. Most good gamer clans will have stuck to MW since there's more diversity to the type of fighting you can do and it's just more in keeping with current times (helicopters win out against canines). I mean you don't see many games simulating being a soldier in the roman army. The second world war is over, and frankly I don't see why you have to bring its mutilated corpse out again and again like it was a nintendo franchise. Drop it and leave it. It's starting to go brown and smell funny.

I'm being very vague, I agree, but I think if you look at the poll, you see my point.

True, but in cod4 there is that blasted M16, the magic assault rifle with the same power and range as a sniper.

Don't forget the MP5 and P90, apparently all you need to wage war is one of those and no one will beat you!

True with the P90 but I think the MP5 evens itself out with it's bad accuracy. Also I love the MP5 silenced with UAV jammer and dead silence.

CoD4 vastly better In my opinion! Why!? Because

1. They are basically the same game, but 4 came out earlier,
2. WaW is set in WWII, MW has cool modern weapons and a new idea.
3. Its just.. better ok.

im going to assume that the "new idea" part was a joke

and if not then i must sadly point at nearly every shooter made in the near past like: Rainbow 6 vegas, Blood in the Sand, and Army of Two just to name a couple

you cant say that something HAS a new idea and they are basically the same game but 4 came out earlier and still say it is an opinion

CoD4, why?

1) Better olnine play, no tanks and decent maps.
2) Better and longer storyline, I got attached to a few people in CoD4 but not so much in number 5

CoD4. WaW just felt like a very poor copy+paste job on the game play. The bugs annoyed the shit out of me, I've heard a few patches have come out but can't be arsed to re-install WaW. I guess I'm slightly biased as I'm fed up of all the WWII shooters that have come out over the years.

Also no tanks.

Well I think Modern Warfare is heaps better.....(also new sequel coming out)...because

1. World War games.....to many done
2. Its new and its based now
3. Good drama
4. New Weps
5. Good gameplay

I personally prefer CoD 4, basically because i liked the step away from WWII and the guns were pretty awesome. The nuclear wasteland bit was cool too!

In terms of a single player campaign, I would say CoD4 just beats WaW by a little, but not that much, only because it was something a bit new. Online/Gameplay wise, I think the perks system was a bit flawed as it gave higher level players an advantage, and really, higher levels doesn't mean better player, but that's just nitpicking right there. Treyarch didn't do much to help with these problems and threw in tanks to made things worse.

World at War.... I just find Modern Warfare a pathetic excuse to get away from WWII. I'll agree Modern Warfare looks cool (never played it yet). But WWII guns are cooler! Thirdly because I said so

WWII guns suck compared to the MW ones. if you havent played both you cant call it a pathetic excuse. the game is awesome, and far better than WAW. im not saying WAW is a bad game, as i love it, but MW is just so much better.
