Well I don't pay more than £30 for a game unless I really want it. £50 is too far since I expect black ops to be about 4-5 hours long again.
Yeah, but the PC version is about £30-40 on Steam and most shops I've seen.Ilikemilkshake said:going by currency exchange rates, $90 australian = £55Zhukov said:Oh, quit yer whining.
In Australia it's $90 for the PC version.
so he's paying the same price as you.
Aye the PC price are the same as the Console prices here in the states. yall in europe still get a discount on digital copies. Lucky you! or perhaps they are ripping you off on the boxed copies. Thats probably more accurate.Banksey said:Steam?DTWolfwood said:its price tag is the only reason im hesitant to buy it. Damn near got burned on Cod6 if i didnt buy the console version of it.
This one i was considering the PC version...but Sorry activision you don't have an excuse for making it $60 on PC all of a sudden.
On the topic of steam, its £40 on there atm, and it can be pre loaded, ready to play at midnight
OT: I Think its way too overpriced, especially for whats on the disc. The campaign will probably be fairly short-medium in length, and about 10 maps doesent take up much space.
I think we should find a way to either RRP games based on amount of content actually on the disc, or how well it gets reviewd. But the latter would proabbly make black ops more expenisve
Im quite confused on black ops. I want to get it for the campaign and to see if they have managed to improved the multiplayer, as well as try out dem wager battle things, but I doubt Ill play it for that long
Then sucks to be you. I can get a standard edition game for $60. Either the Euro's a lot stronger than I thought it was (doubtful), or you're not doing your currency exchange quite right.Aphex Demon said:So Escapists, today I managed to get my hands on a copy of Black Ops, I was planning on getting the Hardened edition, until after asking the price of it, I realised I hadnt got enough money, thus forcing me to buy the standard edition, still costing me £49.99. Now for one I have never ever spent £50 on a game that is the 'Standard Edition', Dont get me wrong I will quite happily spend £50, considering I did just spend £50 on it, but dont you think the game developers are taking advantage a bit because they know people will spend that much on it. FYI Americans, £50 works out at about $80.
I'm more impressed with the fact the staff gave you the VIP treatment. Though if the game will last you ages, that's even better. (I'll admit to being something of a game hoarder, myself.)Aphex Demon said:I know this game is gonna last me at least a year, so its all good.Gunner 51 said:Fifty quid?!? I reckon you got ripped off.
I do enjoy the CoD games, but charging that much for a product that's with only forty quid - at most - is crazy. Especially with the short single player campaigns, which is supposed to be the meat and bones of the game.
But ultimately, this was your call OP to make. If you think the game was truly worth it, then I tip my hat to you for getting the game early and even getting the VIP treatment by your local games retailer.
For that extra tenner, I'd be wanting the staff to come home and wash the dishes for me.![]()
Ha, the amount of people who declared themselves "ill" for MW2 and skipped uni all day to play. Just staying in Stafford for uni really, but Discs and Disks has lost my custom after they refused to refund my broken Mass Effect 2 disk as soon as I opened it.Aphex Demon said:Yeah, I live in Stone, but I work for the council in IT. Its looking at me, staring me down, asking me to go home 'ill' and play it. This is going to be one LONG day.RobCoxxy said:Ah, a fellow Stafford man? Ha, I just got it on Steam. £39.99. Still a bit much, but activision is run by Bobby "Shylock" Kotick, and CoD is pretty much the only game franchise that can get away with ridiculous prices, people will still buy it in droves.Aphex Demon said:If your wondering how I got it a day early, its because the shop is an independent franchise, so its easier for them to get away with selling it as soon as the shipping order arrives.
(Funny thing was, both managers of Gamestation from Newcastle and Stafford were in the bottom of the shop talking to the manager of this 'independent franchise', So I was subtly prompted to go exit the store on the other side, haha.
Where abouts are you from? In Stafford like.
I hope you payed that much because you were desperate to get it early. You should be able to find it loads of places for £40. Retailers know people are hesitant to spend more than that for a game and they know if they charge more there's a good chance another outlet will undercut the price. In short, you payed too much.Aphex Demon said:So Escapists, today I managed to get my hands on a copy of Black Ops, I was planning on getting the Hardened edition, until after asking the price of it, I realised I hadnt got enough money, thus forcing me to buy the standard edition, still costing me £49.99. Ah well, I have my copy, so I dont really mind, but I want to see other gamers opinion on this considerately more costly price...
Its the British pound, Not euro.Char-Nobyl said:Then sucks to be you. I can get a standard edition game for $60. The pound's still...well, in circulation? Christ. That's a newsflash for me.Aphex Demon said:Its the British pound, Not euro.Char-Nobyl said:Then sucks to be you. And usually I would pay £39.99 for a game, hence why I made this topic in the first place.
Thats mainly why I wouldnt preorder games online, The agonizing wait to see weather its delivered while on chat to your mates ALL playing the game while your waiting for the freakin delivery, which you aint even sure if its gonna' arrive that day. That is like torture... to me.ShotgunSmoke said:I pre-ordered my PC version from amazon.co.uk. The game itself costs £34.91 + shipping = 45£.
I've never paid so much for a game but as long as it arrives on time it's fine by me.
