Over-rated is not the same as over-hyped, is it?

Over hyped? Maybe.

Over rated? Definitely not.

*bangs head against table*

This thread has been done so much
Contrary to the idiotic mainstream gamer belief, some people think there are some flaws in COD and the franchise

After CoD:MW1, they got overrated. MW1 lived up to its hype, but then MW2 tried to recreate too much that made the first good. I think really the only thing better from MW2 was the multiplayer, cause there was more options about you personally as a player.

You know what? Maybe you should form your own opinions, instead of parroting Yahtzee's.

Really liked 2 and 4. WaW was pretty decent, MW2 was a big disappointment for me, and Black Ops was decent.

Yeah, it's gotten pretty overhyped. Not saying they're bad, but people blow them out of proportion.

I have enjoyed COD games for years, although in the last few years, their games do not live up to the hype, especially Modern Warfare: 2 and Black Ops. Every time a new COD game is released, it dominates the front shelve of video game stores, with truly original and fun games pushed back. COD is not much of an advancement from most generic FPS'S, just a larger fan-base. The most recent game (BLACK OPS) has included a wide variety of equipment, perks, and abilities to ruin the pure enjoyment of the game, and appease the gimmeck-y side of the fanbase (E.G. the younger generation/gamers)such as:
*Over-Powered weapons.
*Camping equipment. (Camera and That mini map detector... thing.)
*The RC-XD (I mean REALLY?!)
*Complete lack of damage distribution (One bullet in the foot being equivilent to one in the torso.)
*Extremely unrealistic bullet dammage, hitboxes, ect.
*Unrealistic Story-Mode (COD originally gained notability for being a realistic WWII fps, and its realism was a major advantage.)
*Stereotypical (See: Zero Punctuation: Black Ops.)
While im ranting on, I would like to announce: I like COD games, but like I said before, i believe it is WAY over-hyped.
I want to know, do YOU agree?
i agree with camping equipment, RC-XD, bullet damage and realism in terms of story... but hoonestly, i could care less how ealistic a story is as long as its fun. but black ops is the most balanced of all the cod multiplayers (and i was a cod4 fanboy), it is more difficult to get ahead based on the weapoins now because there is only 2 or 3 that are over-powered... although mw2 was over-powered ***** fest so i gave up on that

i personally love the call of duty series and am quite glad it is making the ridiculous amounts of money it is. it's one of the last pure fun game series left in the industry (excluding nintendo games, of course)

I dunno... I haven't played it all that much. HOWEVER-- people bring their GODDAMN XBOX to play GODDAMN BLACK OPS into the student center at school ALL THE TIME. All I hear about or see during my lunch break is NAZI ZOMBIES!!! I've never played the game and I know most of the levels better than some of those players... D8<

Short Answer: YES!
