CoD:MW3 isn't even out yet. Can we at least wait until the game comes out before we have these polls?

I gave up on CoD after MW2, nothing new was happening with the franchise and i just got bored

I started Battlefield with Bad Company, i was amazed by the vehicle combat and the large maps. I just got BF3 and it beats EVERY CoD and Battlefield game I have played by a long shot.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this thread has been here atleast 10 times.

anyway OT: They are both good, my answer this year is the same as last year, they are two completly diffrent games, they both got guns, that's almost the only similarity now. Comparing them makes no sense at all.

Is there a difference?

[sub]That's intended as a rhetorical question BTW. I don't actually require an answer.[/sub]

No, because from what we've seen so far and from past experience, it will be the same game engine but with different textures and models.

I wont be buying either this year however as they both look terrible.
The campaign on battlefield is pretty bad in my opinion. I much prefer MW2 or BO campaigns. But don't decide till you've played them friend. If we all did that we'd never try anything new. Maybe wait till they come down in price if you aren't sure.

I prefer Battlefield. Enough that I'm spending $600 on a new graphics card to play it on high.
Whuh...?

I just spent £170 to play it on Ultra![footnote]with the AA turned down, admittedly[/footnote] What card did you get?

I'm not talking about MW3 or battlefield 3, i'm talking about the older games, the franchise in general. Their's plenty to go off already. MW3 is not technically included in this discussion, but we can use the previews if you want.

care to make a counter-argument instead of an insult? every CoD for the last 4 years has been a CQC shooter on a small battleground using the same engine, the only difference being setting and the weapons. the engine has not changes, the only updates being performance improvements not mechanic changes.

I'm going to give BF3 a shot, simply because the online looks epic with those fighter jets.

However, I'll always like CoD more. Not out of some simple fanboyism, but because CoD's gun mechanics have always just felt more solid to me. It's like I can actually feel the power of my bullets when I fire. In BF2 I couldn't stand it simply because I didn't feel like I was firing actual death, the guns felt weak to me. I just didn't like DICE's game engine.

battlefield would be the completely better game if only it had some split screen support. without it, its not a game i can really play with my friends, and if im playing alone i would rather not be playing some realistic shooter.

I prefer not reading the same topic for the past 12+ weeks....

Call of Duty let me play in the maps (tried BF:BC2 and couldnt get in a map)

Also there was no neither option...BlOps only shines in having Bots for Local MP which makes for some sweet fun when its 4v8

While CoD has the MUCH better campaign and Spec Ops in a fantastic addition to the FPS formula, I will always prefer Battlefield's large-scale, vehicle-oriented, destructible environments. It feels more like an actual WAR to me.

Oh look. Haters gonna hate.

Personally, I prefer CoD. Battlefield never really clicked with me. I really enjoyed WaW's online, the maps were great and it didn't have as many bells and whistles as MW2 and BlOps. MW2 had brilliant splitscreen multiplayer, although this is only because you can threaten to punch people who use the nobbish perks. Still, having that much customisation is pretty rare for splitscreen, it's very overlooked I think.

Battlefield. I enjoy CoD, but the gameplay gets old fast. It's not very dynamic or engaging. There's just something epic about having to assault a position from multiple fronts.

That said I'm basing my opinion off of my favorite FPS, Battlefield Vietnam. I'm not really into playing first person shooters for the campaign so I don't judge it on that either.

I picked CoD mainly because I find that it allows for both team play and me playing solo, whereas Battlefield, you tend to have to work in a team to get anyway. That's all well and good when I have friends on and the like but CoD allows me to go lone wolf if my friends aren't playing or do well as a team if they are.

I do still quite like Battlefield though, even if the people that promote it are a bit dick-ish.

I really don't want to get into this conversation again, damn it.

But fine, *ahem*
Call of Duty, if you are really keeping up and not just being bias, has actually changed a whole lot more then Battlefield has, as a Franchise. If you've played both, and kept a non-bias opinion or both, you'd see that. There really isn't a huge difference between Battlefield 2, and Battlefield 3. At least if you are holding it to the same standards you hold Call of Duty to. Both has updated graphics, weapons, maps, and has tweaked game play. From what I've seen, MW3 has tweaked the game play a lot more this time. Even more, if you are comparing it to all its latest titles. From the Pointstreaks, to the updated way it handles the Pointstreak rewards, and weapon proficiency. Granted, I'm not saying BF3 is BAD. Its a great game, and EA put a lot of work into it. However it shouldn't even be compared to CoD, since they both contain a different flavor of game play. (CoD being more twitched based, while BF being more strategic.) Now, I'm gonna copy paste this, so I can stop having to retype this every time some idiot brings that retarded idea that CoD hasn't changed at all over the years.
