I used to love it but now I hate. The multiplayer is so close to being good but then they fuck it up. This is what pisses me off. It could be good but they just overload it with weapons that become meaningless stats and skins then pad it with imba killstreaks and away we go.

Meh, It's okay, but I personally would say slight dislike were it not for neutral opinion, I don't like most standard linear FPS games. I like games with different (generally unrealistic) approaches, and I'm a single-player man myself, which CoD caters less for. Also my playtime on CoD games is generally not that great... so I will say it can be okay for me, but no better than okay, because it is just not my personal cup of tea.

I enjoy the single player campaign, and love playing coop in the modes that allow such gameplay. Otherwise, I just have a neutral opinion about it.

I'm not against it. I see it like I would a popcorn action flick. I find it fun, and I'll enjoy it when I play it, but I'll feel no real compulsion to play it, and I could easily live without it. So it's alright.

This is a great way to explain it. It's lite, good for a laugh, but at the end of the day it's not really what I'm looking for.

I love the CoD series. I really do. I just hate 90+% of the people who also love/play it.
A good chunk of MW2's issues could be ended if people did not just take advantage of technical issues, like quick scoping, which is an EXPLOIT!
(And the fact that "try hard" and "hard scoper" are used as insults)

For me, its a "Meh". Its fun, yes. I have played many times with friends in split screen, and that can be very fun. But I can guarantee that if I had other split screen options I would be playing those games instead (like Halo or Gears of War).

Generally, yeah I like it. The campaign is fun to play - especially the sneaking parts - and I enjoy the multiplier for the most part. Most of the problems I have with the games stem from the community, not the games themselves.

By the way I think these types of threads are relevant every few months after a game comes out because honestly if you'd've asked me 5 months ago, I'd've said yes.

I'm neutral now though due to the repetitive nature of the multiplayer once a person gets through one or two prestiges.

I love finding out all the new stuff and seeing play styles and figuring out better ways to beat what styles. However, after a few months it gets boring.

That is where they lucked out, 'aw your current cod is boring? buy this one, hot of the presses'. OH-KAYYY! (complete with derpy face)

I'm not saying that people who play cod are sheep, but I will say some people are able to stay excited about things for longer than me.

CoD4 was one of my all time favourite games. WaW dropped the ball a litle and essentially released a downgraded version of CoD4 (both in terms of gameplay and setting). MW2 was really good, but at the same time with all its craziness and over-the-top-ness lost alot of CoD4's flavour and atmosphere -- I compare it to the L4D series: the first was fantastic, and the second should have improved it in everyway, what with all the new gameplay thingies added. But it didn't.

Black Ops, however, took the silly but acceptable level of ridiculousness to new heights, with straight up ridiculous scenes chocked in everywhere, utterly incoherent plot and generally frustrating, even for CoD, multiplayer.

I've been burned by CoD, like I have with Assassin's Creed, and yet with both I know that no matter how much I tell myself I won't, when the time comes I will buy it.

So, do you all on the Escapist like CoD?
CoD4 and Mw2, yes, but not Black Ops (at least in terms of multiplayer). That game had some of the worst multiplayer maps I've ever seen. They were cluttered, confusing, and chock-full of camp locations. I've actually gone whole matches in that game where I was the only one moving around anywhere because everyone on both sides camped (which is incidentally, my gamer Hell). At least the CoD other games designed their maps so that every location has a weak point, and it took the whole team working in tandem to cover the holes with any degree of effectiveness.

In addition, I had issues the CoD points system, in that it was counterproductive to the whole concept of multiplayer gaming. THe leveling up system has always worked well, as it gives player incentive to play whilst giving them options along the way. But when you add in a money system as well, you create the unfortunate issue of dosh hoarding, where players won't buy anything else because they're saving for some weapon combo 10+ levels away. And since it's directly tied into how well a player does in a match, most people will only use what they're used to, creating a lack of competitive creativity that all MP games live off of.

Hey, haven't I seen you somewhere before, The Heik?

I forgot to give my opinion: I don't like CoD. It has had a great impact on the industry, but as a game, it's begun to feel bland and generic to me. I may have liked it at some point, but it's being milked and has become the gold standard of gaming. As a high schooler, all I hear about is "Hey, did you prestiege yet?" and every time I say I'm a gamer, they assume I play CoD. The gameplay in CoD feels stale and unoriginal, but that's not to say it isn't a good game. It's just not my cup of tea.

Sure, its good basic gameplay. Run here. Shoot this, shoot that, oh you are dead, next character. Bit repetitive but its allright. Just felt that I couldn't immerse myself in it. But I'm not a fan of its graphic scheme. The Realistic-but-its-obvious-its-a-gane look just doesn't sit right with me. Bullets, glass shattering, the blood spatters, its more distracting than anything. I'd take the graphics of BBC2 any day over Black Ops.

Neutral Opinion Of It

I don't really love or hate the series. There are some CoD games that I enjoy, and some I can't stand.

There are some aspects of the series' gameplay that I love, and others that I despise because of how overused they've become outside of the series by competing development teams.

So yeah... mixed bag.

Not anymore? That should be an option up there, for the people(like me) that have been diehard fans since the first one came out(I even have the original game's demo somewhere), loved MW1, after that, I didn't buy MW2, got blackops thinking diff devs diff exp, WRONG! was sorely disappointed cause the game was a giant paperweight on PC(I play it on PS3 at a friend's house, but it gets old fast), and aren't getting MW3.

I`ve never really gotten into the multiplayer, to be honest - it all feels rather repetitive and samey; yes, it`s fluid, and it can be fun at times, but overall, if I'm looking for multiplayer in an FPS, give me Bad Company 2. Interestingly enough, my favourite part of MW2 was the campaign, which I found wildly entertaining. The Co-Op portion of the game was also well done, and my friend and I had a lot of fun with that.

Black Ops, on the other hand, gets a resounding "meh" from me. The multiplayer is pretty much the same, the zombie portion is quite fun (if a little frustrating at times), and the main storyline is a heaping pile of mediocrity filled with some of the most bland characters I've ever seen in a game. The interrogation sequences are particularly grating - there are other ways to create drama apart from yelling and swearing, Treyarch....

Overall, CoD is fine. It can be fun, and it certainly doesn't deserve all the hate it routinely gets. At the same time, I don't believe it deserves its massive fan base, either, something I consider to be one of the most peculiar phenomenons in gaming. Why the hell is this series so popular? Yeah, it's fun, but so are a lot of games....

it has a lot of very serious problems, both with SP and MP, but MW2 keeps me coming back on both parts of the game, mainly because Infinity Ward understands how to make trashy hollywood blockbuster gameplay that would look incredibly repetitive form an outside perspective incredibly fun and horrifyingly addicting. And after playing MW2's campaign, I felt robbed for my money, but now, seeing that I spent a shocking 400 hours on the multiplayer, its worth its expenses.

Not gonna buy MW3 though, because I refuse to support Activision any further.

And I'm really anticipating the next game of the original IW staff, that left Activision somewhere in MW2's reign of MP domination on all platforms.

Possibly. I've been active here for a few years, and my escapist name is the same as my Gamertag on XBL. You'll forgive me if I don't remember you myself, but I'm absolutely terrible with names (heck I'd probably forget my own if it wasn't on my Driver's License ;P)
