Do you call your parents by their first name?=
*Fixed

OT: No, I consider it quite rude to call my parents by their given name. It is always "Mum" and "Dad", and always will be.

I don't. I really try to avoid calling anyone by their first name.

Also, it's THEIR, not there. Their is word showing ownership.

No, never. And I will never allow my own children to do that either. Step parents I can understand calling by first name but even that would mean to me that the relation between the kid and the step parent is not fully ok.

I call my Mother by her first name and she gets quite upset when i do it. [even thou she gets my name wrong on a daily basis].
Wait...your mum gets your name wrong on a daily basis? What?

OT: Nah, it'd just be weird and sound distant.

I've never called my parents mother/mom or father/dad, I have always called them by their first name... My grandparents however have always been grandfather and grandmother... strange now that I think about it =P

It's "though." "Thou" Is an entirely different word. /end petpeeve rant

I have no relationship with my DNA Donors. So if I don't refer to them as "DNA Donors," I'll refer to them by their real names. It doesn't bother me. I have no idea if it bothers them or not.

No, but should I ever have children, I will raise them to call me by my name. It is just more personal.
I know what you mean, but think about it: It's actually far less personal. Everyone in the world is going to call you by your name. Only your children will ever call you father or mother.
Almost every father in the western world is being called "father". Besides, a far more important point: I don't want to be just a "father" to my child. I want to be his/her friend. And friends call me by my name, just like virtually any other human being does. My personality and existence consists of more than being "father".

The only time I call my mom by her first name is when I'm at her workplace. She says its safer if I don't call her "mom" there.

I have NEVER called my dad by his first name.

Mom's and Dad's have first names?!?!?

In all seriousness, no, never. It's Mom and Dad. I've found i don't even usually introduce them to people by there first names, I say, "this is my Mom/Dad" It's there job to tell people their names if they want too... LOL

Yeah I call my parents by their first names because Mum and Dad just don't sound right to me when I say them. It's odd.

I call them by their first names when she's out of the house, otherwise calling out "Mother" in a crowd has about a hundred heads turning. I just call her the many variations of Mother when we're indoors.

I do it to get their attention when they are spacing out or if its important. Other than that it's mom and dad.
