I spent a good minute trying to work out what I'd answer, not seeing what I would of answered, trying to understand the choices and the respective responses before I scrolled down and the truth came to me.

OT: I'm a technology whore, no lack of tv ps3 and electricity for me thanks :p

I love camping with friends out by the lake. Good times grilling with plenty beer, how could anyone possibly say no?!

Camping is fun whether it be a tent or a camper, as long as you have family or friends to share the moments with and you can punch the weather man to say it won't rain like a ***** then you'll be up until dawn from being so giddy about camping. =O If you haven't found out by now every time I've gone camping it's rained like a ***** I may add. But when it wasn't raining it was fun.

camping CAN be fun, but I think that camping for the sake of camping is a bit of a mistake. It's like going to a hotel to sleep in a hotel room, it doesn't make sense.

I'd rather travel across a hiking trail, with camping along the way

Let's see just how many people won't read the OP and think I'm talking about a different version of camping...

We're talking about outdoors camping here. I'm using this thread for two means: the first is a temporary goodbye, as for the next week (until Saturday, July 2) I'll be camping. Second, to ask people's opinions on camping.

This'll be my third year in a row going, and I certainly don't mind it. It has its ups and downs, but doesn't everything? I usually go camping every other month with my Boy Scout troop, but I always go to this summer camp.

So, what are your opinions?
Yeah, I didn't read the OP before voting... However, my answer would still be the same, "It's not fun from the few times I've done it". I'm tech reliant, last time I went camping it was at a campground with electrical outlets in every designated tent lot. People could tell which tent I was in due to the light from the tv/vcr shining through.

My hatred of heat and bugs and being away from my tech prevents me from enjoying the best part of camping; the campfire and food cooked by the campfire. One night wouldn't be bad(in good weather anyway) but a week is too much for me.

I love it. I used to go all the time with my family but now that my sister and I are getting older my parents don't want to go as often. To remedy the lack of camping that appeared in my life I convinced my friends to go to the same places my parents and I used to go each summer.

Weather; a BIG dependant is the weather.

Especially if you have little ones around as well - it can produce the best of times and the worst of times. Better to go as a group so you can all look out for one another: missing torches, babysitting etc.

If it was one thing I enjoyed in Boy Scouts, it was the camping. Pretty much the only thing it was good for.

I do weekend camping trips most of the summer. usualy I dont bother with a tent because im either at the river in a secluded spot or on the lake in a secluded spot... its great to kick back at the campfire with your woman and the roof over your head is the stars. we do atleast 1 weeklong trip where its tents and normal campground with family or friends. Only rained 2 times and me and the girlfriend spent that time having fun in the tent. hey you make lemonade out of them lemons!
