Poll: Can Sonic Team do better than what their doing now?

I beleive so, If you think about it, Sonic the hedgehog is one of the most successful game series. They have and endless number of games, 4 publicly aired TV shows (only one was any good though), and lots of merchandise.
So can they be doing better than Sonic Unleashed and Sonic the Hedgehog X360?
If so, what could they release to make everything better?

I say a new Sonic Adventures game

i agree the way the games were made 2d side-scrolling is the only decent way to go

Yes..if Sonic team doesn't do anything like Sonic Unleashed and Sonic vs The Black Knight they might receive less of my hatred. Until that time however...

Overall I'd agree with you, but I do remember loving Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast to PIECES. Maybe because it was my first Dreamcast game, maybe it was because I could use the memory card to carry around my cute little cho pet like a cheap tamagachi but... damn that game was cool.

So OP, I'd say my opinion is yes, they CAN make a good Sonic game, though I would not put any money on this possibility.

I haven't, but if it has the same ridiculous level layouts and 1 & 2, i don't want to.

Trust me, SA2 best Sonic game ever hands down, even if it is 3D, and its really cheap too, so if you ever come across your gamecube, buy it. I have met at least 20 people who played it, and they would say the same.

That spiky blue bastard was responsible for life of gaming, so I do hope he either returns to his former glory... or goes out in the biggest bang possible... Like an official AO rated sonic game... with horrendous amounts of gore... and killing of children... and more boobs than have ever been in anything before...

I doubt most of the members of the original Sonic team are still a part of it. If they are, then I have no idea how to explain the rapid decline in quality.

Regardless, I don't think the Sonic team can do better than what they are doing. Almost all of their recent games have been flawed from the game play to the story. Short of teaching them all how to design a game and write a story, I don't think anything can be salvaged from that train wreck of a studio.

Sonic might just be an inherently flawed concept to work with though. If you go back and play the old games, you'll notice a lot of unacceptable flaws in them that would never be allowed in a good modern game, most of them having to do with level design. The Sonic formula may simply not work anymore. Of course that's not an excuse. They should modernize the games rather than sticking with old archaic design choices.

Or maybe the Sonic team does suck and they only remain employed due to foolish children and nostalgia. Regardless of why they can't make a good game, I doubt they will start getting better suddenly.

I did like the Chao feature of the Adventure games, but the actual missions of the game were not all that enjoyable for me. They were certainly better than the newer games, but nothing special.

How could they not do better? They haven't made a good Sonic in like a decade. There's nowhere to go but up. It's not like they could do worse than the rock bottom that was Sonic 06.

I know there's that whole, "ahh stop raping my childhood," cliche, but seriously, the old games were so damned fun. What have we got now? Horribly designed games with idiot plots, awful characters, and a franchise that doesn't know when to die.

Most Optimistic View: A come from behind revival. The DMC3 to Sonic 06's DMC2.

Can they hypothetically do better? Yes. Can they actually, no.
Go out and buy Shadow the Hedgehog or youtube it, keep in mind that Shadow the Hedgehog was released at the same time Halo 2 was out. Now watch some footage of any Sonic Wii game. If you still believe that there is a chance in hell that Sonic Team will actually make a good game unless everyone there is replaced then you are delusional, or hallucinating.

Proably not. You answered it yourself, they've made countless video games and their more modern ones aren't that good.

So my answer is no, i've given them chances time and time again and they never change.

........Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was a great game. One of the best Gamecube Sonic games of that generation. I still play it to this day.

Generally, I can't get a hold of the 2D sonic games, I always usually die or move so fast that I fall into a spike pit.

I prefer the 3D Sonic games, although I stopped at Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle will always be my favorite, however.
