Poll: Can Sonic Team do better than what their doing now?

Sonic 3 was the last unquestionably good Soinc game. Everything after that was anywhere from okay to above average until they hit the rock bottom known as Sonic 06. Then they did the impossible by going even lower than that. (I have heard rumons from some people I hang out with irl that Soinc 06 and Sonic Unleashed have some parts that are quite fun. I must investigate).

As for the TV shows, SatAM (1993-1995) was the best. Sonic X isn't that bad though.

At this point there is only one thing that Sonic Team can do, and that is to release megamnan 9, but instead of making it megaman, make it sonic. The fact is that the public wants the old 8-bit sonic and Sonic team wants to make something shiny. And how can you blame them? Gamers constantly ***** and moan about whether or not a games graphics are good enough or if its voice acting was top quality. It's why some people still go to arcades and play games one token at a time. When a game(action not rpg) is fun on its own it shouldn't need deep story, top-notch voice acting, or high budget cut-scenes. I'm not saying that games shouldn't have these, they contribute to the overall playing experience, but the game should not be riding on these alone. Back on the genesis this was the Sonic story line: You're a fast blue hedgehog. Theres an evil fat guy with a mustache. The bad guy kidapped the animals and wants to rule the world. Make him pay.

That's it. Nothing else is required for an action game. Gamers pick through storyline and graphics fast, and once you pull off the feathers, all you find is a bald chicken and a bad game.

To be honest they can't do a lot worse. Im sorry but post Dreamcast all the Sonic games have been a failure.

They can do better. The gameplay has gotten a little too far from where it was fun.Sonic needs to be fast, platforming needs to be a little more intuitive, and the camera needs to be exorcised. The Music and Graphics, I have no problem with.

I beleive so, If you think about it, Sonic the hedgehog is one of the most successful game series. They have and endless number of games, 4 publicly aired TV shows (only one was any good though), and lots of merchandise.
So can they be doing better than Sonic Unleashed and Sonic the Hedgehog X360?
If so, what could they release to make everything better?

Well considering I liked Unleashed, I'm gonna go with yes. Now while I'm here... What's with everyone, actually no, no I think I might not, I'm certain you people might kill me. But again yeah they can.

I'm surprised Sonic is still around to be honest. I remember playing some of the original Sonic games way back on the Sega Genesis when I was a little kid. Then again, so was Mario, and i'm about as surprised to see him still kicking as I am Sonic.

As far as the question goes... I think Sonic has had his day. Sonic team needs to try to start something new, if only to freshen up the mix a bit. But, the same could be said for almost every game company out there.

I think they can do better; they just need to stop being lazy regarding their games. Their soundtracks are good, their graphics are (usually) decent, and they have some decent ideas; they just need better execution of them. (On that note, I did enjoy "Sonic Chronicles" a lot, and I'm looking forward to Sonic 4.)

However, there's a difference between "can" and "will".

You've obviously never played Sonic Adventures 2 Battle

I haven't, but if it has the same ridiculous level layouts and 1 & 2, i don't want to.

Trust me, SA2 best Sonic game ever hands down, even if it is 3D, and its really cheap too, so if you ever come across your gamecube, buy it. I have met at least 20 people who played it, and they would say the same.

Make that 21.

SA2B was the best 3D Sonic game I've ever played, despite the semi-annoying hunts as Rogue and Knuckles.

Sonic in the 3d medium does work, they just don't grasp the formula for why it works. At all.

The 2D games are still the best.

Oh, and why yes, they can do better. The big thing they need to realize is that they don't need to dumb down the game to make it work for kids. The story without a story method they used in sonic 1-3.5 worked fine.

Then suddenly they're making original the character.
