Despite the large number of great games that have come out for the system, I still occasionally come around some badmouthing. Although this is almost always by Microsoft fanboys, I think gamers in general can still feel some of the fallout from the system's initial bombing. What I want to know if you think the PS3 will ever shed its former title of industry laughing stock or do you think a bad first impression will haunt it for the rest of its lifespan.

Well fanboys will always hold on to failures. PS3 will laugh at the failure of Kinect and MS fanboys will laugh at the failure of Move. It's just how the world works.

I thought it was the 360 that had a bad reputation, which I don't think it'll grow out of anytime soon.

EDIT: And the Wii, among serious gaming crowds.

I haven't heard anyone badmouthing PS3 at all.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Of course you're gonna get fanboys who insult it constantly, just like you get fanboys who insult the Xbox and Wii, it doesn't mean it has a bad reputation.

It did had a bad reputation? Well, to be honest I'm not sure if it has, but whatever, I care more for the PC than consoles.

It already has.

I used to hate the PS3, and always wanted a 360. These days, given a choice between the two, I'd choose the PS3. Free online and most of the same games. Gears of War and Halo aren't worth the possible RRoD and why pay $60 a year to play with a bunch of 12 year-olds calling me a fag and/or something racist?

The PS3 was never bad at all. It's price just started out way to high and the Xbox 360 got off to a great start even with hardware problems.

Yes, I had that impression as well. Wii is the kids' console and Xbox the 50% failure rate torture from hell... actually I never heard really bad things about the PS3 apart from obvious personal preferences and maybe some titles not coming out for it.

Care to enlighten me, OP?

Nope. Pretty sure that was PS3. Granted that video was made three years ago, but that was the initial response from most of the gaming community when most of the system's launch titles bombed.

It outgrew it's bad reputation like a year ago from what i saw. My Xbox friends all stopped badmouthing the PS3 at any occasion and a lot ended up buying one, or want to buy one.

To be blunt about the whole "PS3 has no gaem" thing, the tables have turned, muhaha >:3

The only thing about the Xbox i prefer is XBLA, I like it's accessibility to indie developers ^^
