i'm glad i don't have to pay for every single pack or expansion (there's free stuff for WotS3 and a few other games too), compared to other consoles. also did i mention that i don't have to pay for the online service?

i don't think those arguments give it a bad rep, on the contrary !

the PS3 is definitely tits, I'll start off with saying that. But, it does have a bad rep. Consider this I played PS2 avidly for many many years. I still play Star Wars Battlefront 2 on it.
When it was time to switch to a next-gen system there weren't even any PS3s to be had in Canada. Add to that the ridiculously exorbitant fucking price, the 90$ games, the crappy cheat and glitch-ridden online, and it just wasnt an option for me for many years. Now, they're just starting to come around to my price range, and there are some games that I just NEED to play that are exclusive.

So I would say yes, it developed it's own negative stigma in the beginning, but now that stigma is pretty much non-existent. BUT, the PS3 will never be as good as the PS2. I will never love the PS3 like I loved the PS2, and it will never dominate the market like the PS2 did.

You mean per year, not per month. If you don't, then I would like you to start paying me the low low price of $40 a month and I will make sure you are always hooked up (don't trust Microsoft). Hell, I'll even by you a new 360 slim to get started. Just sign this five year contract...

Personally I play Xbox, but I dont give two turds about the console war or a consoles bad rep. Its only a console, if some one dislikes the choice I made, they can cry about it some where far away from me. Sad bastard.

It outgrew it's bad reputation like a year ago from what i saw. My Xbox friends all stopped badmouthing the PS3 at any occasion and a lot ended up buying one, or want to buy one.

To be blunt about the whole "PS3 has no gaem" thing, the tables have turned, muhaha >:3

The only thing about the Xbox i prefer is XBLA, I like it's accessibility to indie developers ^^

Really? I heard that Microsoft were scaring away indie developers by charging them too much to post their games online? (Seriously, is that true? I don't have an xbox, so I can't keep track of this stuff.)
On topic, what bad reputation? Oh, the one that is really just criticism of its' library of games, and cost? Yes, it definitely got past that. It's the perfect console for someone that plays games as a hobby, (ie, not a casual Wii player) but does not give a shit about online.

Meh, I had all three, I sold my Wii after the novelty wore off, my PS3 sits and collects dust, I use my 360 for games and netflix and i play games on my PC. Go figure. Im not a rabid fanboy, but, I feel I have wasted money on a PS3. I don't even use it as a blu ray player.

I've notice a significant increase in 'PS3 talk' since the last year or so at my school.

Most of the people just got fed up with the Red Ring and decided the PS3 was the way to go.
Others seemed to have simply been struck by a bolt of game lightning and decided to trade their XBOX in and buy the other console.

I can't exactly explain why, but it seems that the PS3 has gained an sudden following.

First impression can be very detrimental, people still thing its overpriced and complain that its library is lacking, and even if you prove them wrong they'll still just tell you they don't care and go about complaining to others how its overpriced and, you get the idea!

In fact I see more "PS3 has more features" comments than "PS3 has no games" these days. And honestly, the lineup has gotten really good, that's why I got one.

It started a bit rough. The price was too high and Sony had few exclusives... Then 2008 and Kevin Butler came along.

I remember that the Wii had a good start with novelty and a game catalogue. However, novelty only stay for a small while and the game catalogue wasn't the greatest in the following years.

Sure it had a shaky start, with the expensive price tag and lack of good exclusive games, but I'd say it's more than redeemed itself, with the recent price drop and the stacks of good exclusives that came out last year.
