I think it has, it's no longer the most expensive console, costing about the same as a 360.
The lack of games that plagued it at launch is no longer an issue.
It's just the ocassional dodgy port that seems to trouble it these days.

i dont think it has completely yet..its very close though

and all you people who never heard badmouthing on ps3's...where the hell did you live? 99% of the people i knew would choose a xbox 360 or wii before a ps3 (i myself would pick a ps3 maybe but thats not the issue at hand), and the xbox's failure rate is seriously not that bad, if it is its because your doing something wrong.. but anyways i think its time will come, but the ps3 definitly had its issues and still has some but overall its definitely a good competitor it just needs some more long term hardcore exclusives for it to really shine.

Bad reputation?? what bad reputation... I'm sorry if i don't read all the computing magazines etc. that this is probably referencing to, but for me, from myself and people i know, with the exception of those with xbox360's, the ps3 has never had a bad reputation, i had one pre-ordered and got mine the day they were released, its never let me down....ever...infact surely this thread should be about the xbox 360, i'm not gonna get into the whole argument, but all i'm going to say is that xbox has a worse reputation of crashing and melting, when you add having to pay for xbox live....well....yeah....in fact many people i know have traded their xbox's for ps3's....what does that tell you....Sony 1 Microsoft 0.....yeah....think about it...no but seriously i don't really care which console is supposed to be better, but why have like at least 10 people i know over the last 2 years bought ps3's and sold their xbox 360....gotta be a reason right?

PS3's have a bad rep for being expensive and having a marginally smaller line up of games.
360's have a bad rep for suddenly choking and dying.

Right now my PS3 has a copy of DJ Hero in it.
Right now my 360 is a paperweight.

Pick your choose.

Wasn't the 360 the one with the bad reputation because of the whole RRoD problem? But if it had a bad reputation, it already has outgrown it.

It had a bad rep for like a year, I would say it's just the fanboys fighting now. (This is coming from a 360 tard XD)

What bad reputation? It's simply a matter of people *****, no matter what happens.
I think we should make a new rule to the interwebz: If it exists, people will ***** about it. Followed by: if It exists, it has fanboys. NO EXEPTIONS.

why pay $60 a month to play?
You mean per year, not per month. If you don't, then I would like you to start paying me the low low price of $40 a month and I will make sure you are always hooked up (don't trust Microsoft). Hell, I'll even by you a new 360 slim to get started. Just sign this five year contract...

Trust me, I'm a stranger on the internet.
Oh and I hear PS3 is going pay to play as well soon so there is really no difference any more.
well the ps3 has PSN+ which is $50 bucks a year, for free games, better services, dicounts and other stuff, but online play is still free, since PSN+ came out (which I havent gotten it yet...) I haven't noticed a difference.

I think any "bad rep" is irrational bashing. I have some issues with the console itself, but the games are what make the system worth playing.

Issues: Removal of features, my unit sometimes wont turn off, updates take an unreasonable amount of time even on fios.

Counter: Solid games, works the best with it's handheld counterpart, hasn't failed me yet vs 6 360's in 5 months.

I don't think the PS3 has a bad reputation at all; I think it's the most solid and reliable game system of this generation (and I have an XBox 360). (I'm not including the PC because in a sense, it's in every generation, and there are too many variables to make a statement comparing a PC in terms of reliability to a game console).

PS3 has always been solid, but yeah, up till 2009 it did have a bad reputation mostly as fanboys surfed the "xbox released 12 months earlier" wave.

One thing I don't get is why everyone said it "has no games" as this was coming from Xbox 360 gamers? Considering they only consider exclusives what the hell did Xbox 360 have at that time?
Halo 3? Crackdown? Didn't even have Gears of War as that saw a PC release.

...Wii is the kids' console...
Oh piss off it is. Im getting tired of everyone saying "Wii's for kids". Have any of you actually USED the Wii with a good game, Like Monster Hunter Tri, or Tenshu? you cant say that breaking peoples necks, arms, stabbing, slashing blood everyone isn't a kids game. "yayyyy!! That man is pouring red cordial!!"

On Topic: ...PS3 had a bad rep? Only bad thing I can think of is the Silly Date system glitch earlier this year and it cant play PS2 games. (Which IS stupid).
I'm buying a PS3 later this year and not just for games, It's also a good entertainment machine.
