I am writing this to ask If we.
After the recent mix up with EXCand the escapist (still unsure whats right and whats wrong in that area)
The main thing I noticed was

From @ExtraCreditz on Twitter

List compiled from the other thread of this nature in Gaming Discussion.
The writer of Name Game
Jimtopia of Creature Castor Monsters, who was paid but it took about six months.
Allistair Pinsof, who apparently wrote for the site a while ago. Not sure what though, if someone knows feel free to let me know.
MovieBob as well. Pretty sure you all him.
JP Sherman, writer of the marketing columns.*
And the guys behind Drinking Games and No Right Answer are saying that they seem to be heading down a similar route.
Robert Moran, creator of Unforgotten Realms evidently left the site after six months of non-payments. Took him 14 months to get fully paid.
Lisa Foiles of Top 5 fame has come forward and heavily implied the same.
Now if this is true I know the two biggest shows the escapist care about Zero punctuation and Jimquis... I mean Extra Credit. I am unsure what people general thoughts are on the other shows but my guess is they don't hold the same status as EC or ZP.
I would like to propose we vote for who to escapist pay for.
after all who wants to lose EC because the escapist are having to pay for a drinking/game challenge show (my apologies to anyone who likes it if this sounds harsh)

I would also like to add I have always found the website issues with content strange as there are hundreds of worthwhile youtubers and article writers out there, that would interest the Escapist.

Why should we be able to decide what they pay for? That doesn't make sense to me.

Because their having problems paying people because their spending money on shows about drinking while gaming, this way we could keep shows like EC because they can give them more funding.
Currently I think whats happened is EC wanted to get payed and the escapist were out of budget at the time.

Right, but then if anything it should be a "Hey guys, how do you like the shows we have going?" sort of thing, not us outright having a say in what goes on.

Presumably the Escapist does not choose where to spend its money by tossing darts at a list of names.

Giving random internet people a say in things they don't have much detail or interest in seems like a questionable decision.

no we shouldnt, if the escapist is supposed to pay for a show then they should pay, no one should go months without payment. and if the escapist cant pay for services rendered, they shouldnt be contracting the services in the first place

Vote with money, amiright?
If we can click a [like] link and it donates 1 cent to the things we like, having 1000 likes ($10) per video/feature/ect. to encourage MORE would be a win-win situation. Advertisements would know where they would want their ads placed most too. Dishing out a single cent to have their ads viewed is pretty inexpensive too.

No, no and did I mention no.

I hardly think people want to put their financial status in the hands of teenagers.

A lot of people here are about 15/16, there isn't a chance in hell i'd want my finances in their hands and I highly doubt other people would want that either.

My only suggestion is, if you want to chose what people get paid, then start your own damn business.

I do try to keep neutral currently that is why I haven't specified anyone as being "evil" yet, which many seem to be doing :D

I wasn't attempting to propose this as a solution just a possibility (and ofc just for the discussion other the EC VS The Escapist which has almost or has hit 1000 posts on one thread alone :C)for the website sorry for the confusion, I was more or less proposing this using this current conflict for reference.

While the idea sounds good, it really isn't. What about admin costs? Noone is going to vote for "Keep the servers running" or "moderate the boards" (Are moderators paid?) but, without those, we either don't have a site or the site becomes a cesspool.

Further, you would have to limit the voting to the people who are actually paying. Advertisers just want pageviews so we wouldn't be able to touch that money which limits us to Pubclub membership dollars. Those probably aren't enough to actually make a difference.

Were talking about shows that put on the website not a group teens doing the Escapists accounting :D
And after all these teens are the ones that get the shows payed for in the first place.

OT: Your a farther how could you give in to the red button you should no better then that XD

Why should random people be able to choose what a buisness does? they have control over the escapsit, they do what they want. The truth of the matter is that the escapist, like other media take all of our views into account (think of T.V. Shows) but simply because a bunch of fans like one show does not mean those fans have control over what the company does. look the whole thing with 'extra credits' is stupid, I love the show and so does a ton of other people and the escapist screwed up on this one, but we are merely viewers with have no final say in what a company or buisness does with their money but hopefully our opinion is taken into account.

So I'm not the only one who thinks that's a terrible show?

OT: I don't think that's feasible, given that all the contributors are promised money (as far as I know). It would seem like insult to injury to less popular shows as well.

Probably not, but The Escapist should consider cutting some of their less popular features and stop adding more for a while to try and balance their damn budget.

I didn't know what the red button did, I opened the page and it had lots of glorious red buttons and I clicked it without reading any posts .... I felt unclean afterwards. It was akin to clicking a keylogger only I got Justin'd instead of losing my bank details.

On topic.

Choosing the actually shows I can agree with I thought you meant choosing which shows out of the ones we had to pay for.

If it's just choosing what shows the escapist puts on then yeah, I can agree with that.

No, I wouldn't want to play favourites as it would be an insult to that one shows just because it got the least amount of votes toward it.

Yes sadly I suffer from a tidal wave of more unusual social and literacy problems, which make writing what I mean to say insanely difficult and problematic. My issues are along the same line of the autistic maths genius (- the genius in my case) that can only think using mathematics.

I do believe I am not allowed to complain due to forum rules about the show however I was more then surprised when the backlash from Jim sterling occurred due to his form of satire, and then nothing happened when drinking game challenges arrived.

"Jim sterling a guy on a similar level in terms of topics but with satire no way not intelligent enough. Drinking booze + games and argument show that ends with drinking OKAY!!"
