I told a friend recently that I still regularly had daydreams and he laughed at me. He said I was too old for wasting my daylight hours in such a useless manner. I don't believe him but it made me wonder what the internet thought of this question.

When I think of internet, I think of the Escapist as a place to leave random questions so I'll ask you here and now:

[HEADING=2]Can you be too old to daydream?[/HEADING]

Please include your reasoning in your answer. If you think you can get too old to daydream, please write down an age you think people should stop daydreaming.

Personally I find daydreaming extremely fun, healthy and possibly inspiring. I've never zoned out when daydreaming and I'm not arguing against the fact that there are places and times you should not daydream.

I don't think you can be to old to day dream. It's really up to the imagination of the person. Although, when you get older, you have less time to day dream, as you take on more responsibilities. The opportunity doesn't arise as much, but you are still fully able to do it. No shame in it either.

you have the right to fade out of existence every now and then.
just don't do it while working with heavy tools.

i do microsleeps. one hour sleeping to keep me refreshed. (one hour ride from school-home)

It's totally fine, as long as you don't do it while driving or anything like that...

I don't really think so. That's like saying you can be too old to have the right to think for yourself.

Daydreaming is a form of escapism which I'm fairly certain we here on The Escapist, are fans of.

Never! We were given imaginations for a reason. Without daydreaming we'd never have progressed technology passed the wheel... or invented the slap-chop.

Day dreaming is basically creativity. Can you be too old to have creativity?
Very nicely put!

I always feared that if I wasn't coming up with unorthadox/unrealistic solutions to problems or random situations, I was becoming too serious or something.

It makes you wonder how many movies, games, or books were once simple daydreams that the person thought "Hey... I should turn that into something!"
