Poll: 'CAPS LOCK'

On Minecraft a friend continually posts in caps-lock. When I (one of the village 'elders') reminded him not to do it he claimed not to know about the 'unspoken rule' of not using Caps-Lock online/in MMORPGs for little to no reason.

I wanted to see if it was actually just me who dislikes people using caps lock and/or if anyone else knows of an unspoken rule of not using caps-lock repeatedly for no real reason.

I used it a fair bit when I first started out on the interwebs, but to me now it just seems like someone is continuously screaming in my face.

But to answer your question honestly, I think most people find caps irritating, and as such don't use it to chat.

So it is possible to type normal! It doesn't feel like cruise control for cool though...

Every time I see caps lock now I think facetiousness. Oh internet what have you done to me? I now see someone EMPHASISING a word to make it seem IMPORTANT and now I think they're being ~ironic and ~kewl.

i don't like it. the odd word in caps for emphasis is fine but having every sentence as in capitols is annoying

It's not even that unspoken, I'm pretty sure at least this forums rules say don't do it. I don't agree with an outright ban on the use though. A few words every so often is fine. It's hard enough to convey emotional context over the internet without having something perfect for anger or excitement be banned. Sod it I'm going elcor.

It's especially APPROPRIATE to capitalise random WORDS if you are WRITING a COMIC.

Caps Lock can be very annoying, especially when you are playing a game that uses it as a control and don't realise you still have it on when you finish.

People should type in standard English, with correct grammar, and in lower case unless at the beginning of a sentence or a proper noun. Pompous much?

But yeah, it annoys me; it does just seem like people are SHOUTING ALL THE TIME.

I never, ever use caps-lock. AND I NEVER WILL. HONESTLY. NEVER.
The reason being that people who do tend to be obnoxious trolls who shout at you because they think you care. Or idiots.

I dis-like the over use of CAPS LOCK, they're good only when they're needed in words and sentances.
