So seeing people previewing the movie and talking about it in blogs and Youtube and such, one thing that has really hit me is that the sides people are choosing is much more even than I had expected. So I was curious as to where the Escapees stand. Who do you side with, and what is your reasoning.
Personally, I am Team Cap. While I can understand the trepidation that the world may be feeling about super-powered beings, what this comes down to is a draft, bordering on slavery. And I'm not meaning to diminish actual slavery in the real world, but just think that someone born with powers will have their every action from birth to death dictated by the government, or they will be sent to prison on The Raft for refusing. Also, the question of who controls them and for what purposes is a big one. It appears that it is the US military from the trailers, in which case America would be handed the most powerful weapons this side of a nuke, and of course would need to be trusted to use it wisely and above board. And if there's a crisis in a country not allied with the US, then too bad. They're not going to risk their weapons on someone else's behalf. (What's that, you have oil?)
So far as Bucky goes, I do believe that he needs to be brought in, not for punishment, but for psychological help and to make sure that he won't revert back to the Winter Soldier. The trouble is that the impression I get from the trailers is that they're looking to either lock him up in a military prison, or put him in a pine box.
ONE REQUEST: Let's not turn this into an argument whether this is the best movie ever or terrible garbage. None of us have seen the movie yet, so it's a pointless exercise. Also, no need to be taking shots at the DCEU, there are plenty of threads for that, as it is.
