I've been in 3. 2 my fault, the 3rd one I wasn't driving.

Spun my car off a dirt road driving too fast.
Rear-ended a car in the snow.

Then I was a passenger in a rollover accident on the highway.

Nope.
Almost, though. There was this 90-car pileup. Yes, you read that right. No, it's not a typo.

I've been in a few.
The first, when I was 16, I drove into a curve too fast and slid off an off ramp. No damage to the car (87 Buick Lesabre) or myself. I went airborne sideways at about 40 and the car just slid across the grass upon landing. I drove back onto the road went on my way.

When I was 19 a cab blew a red light and hit me at 45 mph. It sent my car spiraling over a curb and into a church's chicken parking lot. I made sure the dude was ok, went inside and got a 3 piece with potato wedges, and sat on my car, enjoying some chicken while waiting for the police.

When I was 22 a woman pulled out in front of me and I knocked off her bumper at about 25-30 mph. The damage to my car (98 Ford Taurus) wasn't bad, but insurance totaled it anyways.

When I was 24 I hit a slick spot during a turn and hit a curb at 40 mph. Destroyed the car's (91 BMW 325i) front right wheel and suspension, but was nothing I couldn't fix in the driveway for a few hundred bucks. That's still my current, and favorite, car ever.

Also when I was 24 I drove straight into a curb that was recently put in to block an old road I was used to taking. Never saw it coming, and destroyed all 4 tires/wheels, front/rear suspension, oil pan, exhaust, transmission, among other stuff. Insurance took care of it, all $12000 in damage. This was in my girlfriend's 08 Chevy Malibu. Oops.

That last one was terrifying. It had been a while since I went that way, it was dark, and there were no signs saying the road was blocked now.

I've been in one. It was about a year ago. I was the front car in a three-car crash. The guy in the back was at fault, and the three of us were really chill about it because the worst was just scratches. It happened on homecoming day, though.

Yep, but I wasn't driving, and it was some asshole stoned out of his skull that hit us even after driving off the road, and he was speeding so much that the huge truck we were in spun a few times all the way to the opposite side of the road's edge.

Also, he crashed into a school soon after, and tried to drive away with 1 tire.

When I was twelve (maybe thirteen?) my mum had a microsleep with me and my little brother and sister in the car and we rolled, and she broke a rib, I think. Everyone else was fine, though, and she got better. It was just weird / lucky that no other cars were involved.

I drive a Volvo Stationwagon.

Someone crashed into the back of me...

Poor guy never stood a chance - my tank kept right on driving, and he was left with a crumpled bonnet.

Hi everyone, So on tuesday I was driving home when my car skidded off the road and hit a tree due to wet conditions, definately a write off. So i was thinking, how many people have had accidents, and if they were their fault or not. Also, how severe it was out of 10. Id rate mine a 6/10 because of damage to the car

If you havent had a car accident, what is the best accident you have ever seen?

P.S, I would upload a photo, but im unsure how to attach a photo that isnt on a photo sharing website (Or on the net in general)
I'm sorry, but i'm offended by this poll/thread. How the FUCK can a car crash be "awesome"? Good people who don't deserve to have their lives cut short, or to lose the quality of life that most of us take for granted, aren't the only ones who suffer in car crashes. I've seen families and friends go through a lot of heartache because some fuckwit thought he could get away with drunk driving, or some prick with a hotted-up car thought that speeding down a residential street would be fun and cool.

This desensitised mentality to motor vehicle misuse is the reason why people continue to die on our roads. A car is the most dangerous weapon the majority of people will EVER use in their LIVES. I wish everyone would understand that.

crashed my brothers jeep into a tree while trying to get the vehicle started on a steep mountain... But that kind of runs in the family both my brothers had their first crash within half a year of getting their drivers license.

Sure have. A Mercedes slammed into the back of my dad's Volvo. The merce was totally demolished, but the Volvo just got a scratch.

A few years later a VAN slammed into the back of the Volvo. Again, van demolished, Volvo intact.

I swear that thing's a bloody tank in disguise.

"Awesome" means more than just "really cool", you know. That's a relatively new meaning for the word. For centuries, it's also meant "inspiring awe", which is not necessarily a positive thing. It can be good, if it's something extremely impressive, for example, but it can also be because of something overwhelming (which could be positive, negative, or even neutral) or terrifying (generally a bad thing) etc. A car crash definitely could fall under that definition of the word. It arguably could even occasionally qualify for the "really cool" sense of it if it's something that potentially could've been tragic but everyone somehow survives completely unharmed, but that's pretty unusual, unfortunately.

I personally have managed to avoid crashing any cars by not being able to drive, despite being old enough to be able to legitimately tell a lot of people on the forums here to get off my lawn. My bus/subway pass (yay for big cities) has yet to run into anything. I've been in a couple accidents as a passenger, but both were single-car only and because of crappy winter weather, despite careful driving. At least no one got hurt. Black ice is a ***** (and was also responsible for my worst accident/injury on foot, too).

Yes. Someone else was at fault and while I did not stalk them (which is why I did not answer the ridiculous poll) I did have to go to court to give evidence against them and saw them convicted.

I was very very lucky indeed. The impact was to the back seat, the worst of it missed me. A little slower and I would have had the front of his car in my lap.

The wreck was so bad and his action to cause it was so moronic that I had people queueing up to give me their name and address details (people don't always want to get involved).

It took me a very long time to be comfortable in a car again and almost two years before I was able to drive (despite the other driver being found guilty). It was a powerful lesson in how a person is not immortal just because they get in to a car and I get very fucking pissy and furious when I see people tooling around like morons. Go ahead and kill yourself if you want, I genuinely could not give a fuck, but try not to take any one with you.

I've seen a few, but never had one happen to me thank God. Also, I wouldn't call them "awesome". Sure the minor ones can be a bit funny sometimes, but full on traffic collisions aren't that awesome. They scare me. They remind me how easy it is for someone to lose their life. My co-worker recently had his Brother taken from him in one. Was horrible.

Havent been in one, but saw one happen right next to me. This was back during primary school days, mum driving me home from school. Doing about 60-70 down a slope(a pretty long one). This truck pulls up alongside us moving along the right lane to overtake, when BAM, he spins, ends up perpendicular to the median and starts rolling. If thats not impressive, he had a passenger sitting on the back(the cargo deck), and as the truck rolled, his passenger fell out and landed IN FRONT of the rolling truck. So basically this guy goes flying and lands smackdab in the path of the rolling truck. Somehow the passenger survives, and the truck ends up on its wheels again. As we drove past, i saw the driver climb out, and waves to his mate, who was smiling and waving back.
