I have. Some bloke rear ended me at a red light (don't take that the wrong way). I had pretty bad whiplash and broke my shoulder (although I wasn't complaining, I got over £3000 in compo)

Yes, I have. 3 to be exact. I do not wish to drive because I have proven that I fail miserably, mostly due to my fear of cars and my depth perception and vision which makes me believe there are 2 extra lanes to each road.

I have been told I can go back and try to get my license back (Which was taken away on my 3rd accident) but I don't want to. The first two weren't the worst in the world, but the 3rd was horrifying. My wife and another man were nearly killed and I would be blaming myself for both of their deaths if they had died, it was ENTIRELY my fault. The only lucky part of it was that there weren't many people on the road or else it would've been much worse.

We were on a Freeway when I was ready to merge into one of the extra lanes I imagined. We merged into oncoming traffic and my wife was freaking out and before I had time to correct myself, a semi came. I heard its horn and tried to turn back and I could even tell the semi had tried to put on its brakes, but it came slamming through and tore out a chunk of the passengers side up front, and the angle our car was at it tore out the entire passengers side in back. It was practically 2 inches away from tearing my wife out of the car as well. The semi swerved and hit the sound barrier and the man inside, amazingly enough, only got whiplash. I was barely hurt but my wife was severely injured and had a massive gash torn into her as well as a compound arm fracture.

I never want to drive again :<

One time I was in the car with my father as he was backing out of the drive way when a 4 Wheel drive reversed straight into the side of the car.

It gave one hell of a shock and damaged the side of the car greatly but ultimately noone was hurt.

At least two; first one was definitely not my fault ( by virtue of being three years old and fast asleep ), last one I don't actually remember, but as it was 1am and I was on my own in the car & hadn't seen anyone else for 10 mins, I'm going to assume it's my fault.

Car flipped over it's nose down a bank into some trees, seatbelt popped off ( and gave me a pretty horrible burn ) and the airbag consequently ejected me through the sunroof, or at least I assume that's how I got out of a car with locked doors and windows all the way up. Where the car landed - eventually on it's roof - a tree branch had gone through the windscreen at something around head height, meanwhile I avoid getting one leg crushed under the car by some miracle, and the other is trapped betwee the windscreen/bonnet/ground/some bit of tree. Meanwhile when I come round I discover I've broken my sternum on something, free my leg, and start the slide into hypothermia. After all that that might have been what did me in except some guy drove past and stopped, coz his son had gone off in exactly the same place a week before... you can't make this stuff up, I still can't really believe I'm even in one piece ( barring no short-term memory, but eh it'll go eventually anyway ).

I've had 1. Although it was on a bus, and the driver crashed, and I just happened to be on it. As for how bad I'd say maybe a 7/10. An 8 at a real push.

20 or so peopel on board, I got skewered by the fibreglass that's at the front of the bus on the top deck. Was in the paper, but this was in 2004 so I cannae find it :(

I suffered a compound tib+fib fracture, resulting in a bone popping out the leg (I looked cool. But hurt like hell). Another woman had a mild angina attack, and one kid broke his wrist in much the same way as I broke my leg. I also suffered a broken nose thanks to the wizard of putting bars across the windows on buses. Yaaaaay. 4 months on crutches and a 7 inch long scar.

(And £9000 compensation. WIN!)

Hi everyone, So on tuesday I was driving home when my car skidded off the road and hit a tree due to wet conditions, definately a write off. So i was thinking, how many people have had accidents, and if they were their fault or not. Also, how severe it was out of 10. Id rate mine a 6/10 because of damage to the car

If you havent had a car accident, what is the best accident you have ever seen?

P.S, I would upload a photo, but im unsure how to attach a photo that isnt on a photo sharing website (Or on the net in general)
I'm sorry, but i'm offended by this poll/thread. How the FUCK can a car crash be "awesome"? Good people who don't deserve to have their lives cut short, or to lose the quality of life that most of us take for granted, aren't the only ones who suffer in car crashes. I've seen families and friends go through a lot of heartache because some fuckwit thought he could get away with drunk driving, or some prick with a hotted-up car thought that speeding down a residential street would be fun and cool.

This desensitised mentality to motor vehicle misuse is the reason why people continue to die on our roads. A car is the most dangerous weapon the majority of people will EVER use in their LIVES. I wish everyone would understand that.
Well, im sorry, but your view of this thread is different then how i intended it, i meant it as an accident where the persons involved get out of it and can look at it and say, holy shit, thank god im ok and that must have looked awesome (much like my crash). And i also realise that people die from being dickheads (drink driving and hooning) and other innocent people are killed by their actions, but that is not how i wanted this thread to be viewed. even if no lives are lost, there is alot of grief still, which i have been having to put up with for the last few days and alot of money spent to get my life back in order. Im sorry for any loss you may have had due to cars (and ive had my fair share of loss with accidents in the past)

I voted I was in one but it wasn't my fault (twice)
And I was in a spectacular one myself.
So it's 3 separate occasions.
The spectacular one involved me being in a car that flipped over a couple of times.
I was in the backseat with 2 other guys and lucky I got out in one piece.
Everyone involved was okay despite a couple of bruises.
The car looked like a crunched sodacan.
Now this is the sort of post i was looking for, that must have looked awesome! scary though

An extremely minor one that I caused by not thinking that the car 2 ahead of me would turn. That's a hard intersection :(

I've crashed more than once in Need For Speed, that's why I stick to Mario Kart and Burnout.

Yeah.

Few years ago some woman in a car 3 ahead slammed her breaks on "to stop hitting a rabbit. Guy behind went into her, My mate went into him and I crashed into him. I probably would have been OK if I'd been more on the ball, but as it was my mates car was a write off, he got a new one for £30 though. Mine took about £900 to repair.

A year or so later I had a near miss going way too fast round a corner and swerved in too much, saw cars coming on the other side (that I was now fully across, swerved back sharply, narrowly missed the hedge, swerved back out again after the last car, back again and sideswiped the overgrown stone wall with my passenger side wing, bounced back out into the middle of the road, swerved back to the edge and then a few more bofore coming to rest.
From the bang from the sideswipe I thought I'd totalled my front passenger wheel and suspension, but as it was it was just the wing and lights.

Anothert time I wasnt't paying attention at a junction and saw a space to pull out, started to do so and assumed the guy in the Land Rover in front would be doing the same. Crunch. His tow bar punched through my radiator and some other stuff and cost about £500 to repair.

Unfortunately there wasn't the option 'yes, and then I crashed the hire car I got on my insurance cover'. It's a complicated story that starts with me rolling a classic mini and ends with me pulling out on some guy who couldn't be bothered to even brake a few weeks later. I wouldn't have still had the hire car if the insurance company didn't screw up my claim, and extended the period of the hire car as compensation.
