You know those cardboard slipcases that some movies and games come in? The ones with the embossing and foil shinyness often added to them? What do you do with them?

I keep my games in them. I view them like the dustjackets on books, and want to keep them in good condition.

I keep them, but I separate them from the games or movies without them. This has lead to a lot of tension between game cases but since there hasn't been any crime between them I allow it to continue.

Well, I (Try) to keep them in good condition, while still containing the original game/disks/content.
Chances are, if I take the stuff out, both will get more damaged that if I kept them together.

Looks like the vote is unanimous.

I'm a packrat, with everything. I keep all sorts of random crap around. I can always get a laugh out of people just showing what I carry with me in my bag when I go to uni every day (band-aids, flashlight, tweezers, paracetamol, Rennies (antacid tablets), etc.) in the spirit of "you never know".

*ahem* So I keep them around.

I throw the fucking things away. Can't stand them, such a waste of material. I hate dust jackets on books, as well.

I keep them in good condition, with the DVD case in them (to maintain it's shape), usually in my cupboard, but I keep the discs separate in a huge CD wallet (because it eradicates the risk of warm discs being cracked by the hard spindles in DVD cases).

I'm terrible for them, there are piles of them in scattered in various drawers in my room but hardly any actually contain the game that came with them. I've managed to never actually lose a game disc though, I have some cd storage boxes which see some use but mostly I don't look after them too well. It's like everything else in my room - it might look a mess but I somehow know where everything is.

I hate them, but when I get one I try to keep it with the disc and case - it usually is the first thing to get lost, though. I really hate how wasteful they are, it's the exact same art that's on the case with no added value except to give the lettering some texture and to make it harder to get into the case. I'd much rather have a quality printed booklet than have a bump-mapped piece of cardboard wasteful shit.

Those things are a pain in the ass. Not because of any reasons normally associated with them. I used to work at a CD/DVD distribution center and the boxes we had to pack full would fit 62 DVDs. When the cardboard slips were added, they didn't fit cleanly, so the tops and bottoms would end up creased, and you could fit less into each box, 54 if I remember right. The added vertical element of the cardboard would always want them to be forced in an angle.

Also, the smallest boxes we used had to be packed in a very idiotic way. Instead of fitting nice and neat, they had to be stacked special, and wouldn't be secure unless you added a ton of packing.

But for myself, I usually keep them with the game.

Even if they're unnecessary, I hold onto every part of the games packaging. It keeps up the hypothetical resale value (should I ever decide to part with Bioshock, for instance--which I strongly doubt). Plus, I just think that that piece of cardboard looks cooler and more distinctive than the plain old jacket for the game.

I hate it when a blueray has a nice cardboard slip and the fucks at the store plaster a 5% off sticker right across the front. Just put a sign over the damn movie rack.

The only thing i dont like about those sleeves is when i put them on a shelf they jut out from the rest of my cases like its starved for attention or something.

I keep my CDs in jewel cases in shoeboxes and plastic tins. Actual boxes that came with the game line shelves in another room. I just find it less of a hassle to pick up a case instead of picking up a box and opening it and taking out the case.
