It really depends on your luck. I hate cats, and yet I love them. Same with dogs.Aris Khandr said:Dogs are stupid, loud, and smelly.
Cats are smart, quiet, and can clean themselves.
I've owned many cats, and they have all been loving and affectionate, but also content to do their own thing if you're busy. Conversely, I am currently taking care of my brother's dog while he is out of town, and the stupid thing constantly tries to bite my feet, will not leave me alone, and will whine for hours if you gate him in the kitchen and try to ignore him. I've never understood animal cruelty, but I seriously think I could bludgeon this stupid dog to death and not feel a thing, except maybe joy at finally having some peace.
I may have covered this, but I hate dogs.
I have two cats right now. One is a total lap cat, loves attention all the time but is fine being on her own, and purrs up a storm if you dare to do so much as look at her.
The other is a mean and skittish son of a ****, pees everywhere and refuses to ever improve no matter what we try. He uses the litter box but goes no further than the basics, refusing to cover his leavings ever. Instead, he chooses to spend 10 minutes pawing away diligently at the adjacent wall or door. >_>
Cats.. I don't trust completely. Our good lap cat only seems to want attention as if she's the center of the universe. I can't help but feel her purring and cute acts are really only there because she realized that they meant more attention, more petting and such. Cats are selfish, and I've always kind of seen them that way. They seem to care nothing for their owners
Dogs, though, I see another way. They don't seem to be so selfish. The good ones, anyway, will follow their owner to the ends of the earth and give readily of themselves. They are not like cats, lone creatures only looking out for themselves, but they genuinely seem to care about others. Loyalty is hardly something I can say I've seen in a cat.
Yes, I also see dogs as dumb, though. Often the stupidity gets to the point of hilarity... or annoyance. It depends on the dog, again. I find that stupidity to be an endearing trait in some. But at least cats don't BARK and HOWL. Selfish they may be, they won't keep you awake at night nearly as well as a dog. T_T
Honestly, I can't say either is better or worse. There are definite pros and cons to both so it's really all about preference. You want something to love you unconditionally, despite often acting dumber than a sack of bricks, or you want something with its own life and goals, there to pretend to like you when there's something in it for them?
