Poll: Changing your avatar

So, I changed my avatar a few days ago, since the allowed size got upgraded to 115x115 pixels. I had had my previous avatar ever since I joined about a year ago, and I am already missing it, but slowly getting used to my new one.
It got me thinking about how important avatars actually are. Your avatar, not your username, is usually what other users are going to recognize you by, and it's also what gives other users their first impression of you (until they read some of your posts of course).

So I therefor ask you, how often do you usually change your avatar? And do you try to keep it consistent so you might keep some of your recognizability? I know one member (that guy with the cartoon dog avatar) often change his avatar, but they're always about that damn dog, so I recognize him.

More often than not I change because someone told me it's too old and I need an upgrade, else I'd stay with the same one.
Helps people to remember which individual I am around here.

I've changed my avatar once, not counting March Mayhem avatars and the first week on the forums while I was still trying to decide on what avatar to use.

My current avatar is the head of the calf that used to be my old avatar.

Never changed mine, and I've no plans to just because I can get one a few pixels larger. So, opossum.

I tend to not recognise people straight away when they change their avatar, so I don't change mine.

I don't think I have ever changed this Avatar. Hell it is the avatar I use on everything going back to Halo 2.

This is my 3rd or 4th avatar in nearly 4 years here, and I've had this one for over a year. So very rarely really.

I like it! It's unique and interesting. And for some reason, the two dudes reminds me of Han Solo.

You should check out the show they were in. The Hardy Boys / Nancy Drew Mysteries - it is a little aged now but it's quite fun to just turn off and watch. You can't go wrong with mysteries and 70s music. One of them used to be a famous singer and had a few number 1s. He sang I Do-Ron-Ron.

I tend to change mine a fair bit but it's always Vegeta themed so people still recognise me (I think). I'm only changing them now when I hit a 'milestone'. I changed it at 4000 and 5000 posts and I'll change it if I hit 10000

I never change it, I think people know me as the person with the star fox avatar. I still like it so there is no point in changing it.

I think I've changed it maybe 2 or 3 times since I joined, with the most recent change being about a week ago. It's been reasonably well received so I think it might stay for quite some time.

I changed it a few times when I first joined but I've had the dancing Weeping Angels for quite some time.
There's one thing I'd like to change it to but it has boobs in it so I don't think it's allowed.
