I barely remember getting chickenpox, it wasn't that bad, just itchy. Most people will get over it in less than a week.

My goddaughter might have the chickenpox and it makes me so upset. Today is her 1st b-day and I can't go over there and see her. Wanna know why? I have never had the chickenpox myself and it can be a whole lot of trouble the older you get. I can't risk it if it is the chickenpox.

So I have a question... who hasn't had the chickenpox yet. Those who have had the chickenpox, if you have a story or something associated with it, tell it.

My best friend's husband thinks I may be immune to the chickenpox because I have been around my sister and cousins when they had it but I haven't caught it yet. Now is not the time to test it either.
I had it. I hated it. It was like thousands of Mosquitoes had a blood drinking orgy all over my body then proceeded to rub the bumps in my sleep so that I'd awake a mess of ichy discomfort.

Yup, as a kid. Well you can go to the doctor for a proper test. You really dont want to chance getting it now by accident, it can be quite dangerous for adults.
Her parents are taking her to the doctor Thursday I think to get it checked out. I wouldn't even touch my best friend, her husband, or anyone in the house just in case I could catch it that way. I met a lady who had Shingles (a form of the Chickenpox) and she was in so much pain. Makes me scared to catch it now.

Yup, I've had them. Caught them off my younger brother, proof that siblings are evil.

Nope. I never get sick; when I feel something in my system I get up and awesome through it.

You can't "catch" it multiple times, once you've had it you never lose it. You just have the potential to have outbreaks later in life.

Shingles is a manifestation of chickenpox that occurs in people who had chickenpox previously in life, it's the same virus. You can't get shingles without first having chickenpox.

Well, that's good news. At least I don't have that to worry about at the moment. It can still be pretty dangerous the older you get.

Nope, vaccinated. For chickenpox, mumps, smallpox, polio, hepatitis, and a whole menagerie of other diseases (My mother was paranoid).

I missed a giant after-school party because I had the pox. Last day of grade 4 and everybody in my grade was there but me. I hated life. I find it funny now, though, because the kid who hosted it became a real prick and few like him anymore.

Got it as a kid. Weird thing is there are two sets of photos of me with the chicken pox. And I'm different ages in them...

Wonder if I had caught something else.

That is unlikely. Are you immunosuppressed?
well, i caught it last when i was 15 (missing a week of school) and according to my parents, i caught when i was 1 and again when i was 3.

Odd. Once you've had it you're immune. The subsequent times it may have shingles; although repeat infections do happen.
