Does anyone remember The Road to El Dorado? The animated film? I rewatched it recently and my god has that movie aged well. Everyone should be watching it. The humour is still spot on (mostly because it contains a fair bit of adult humour) and its beautifully done. It's got a very Prince of Egypt vibe like someone in this thread has already mentioned.
Funny story about that one, it would've apparently been the first in a series had it made enough back in the day.
That's either a really sad or really fortunate thing. Rarely have childhood movie sequels done well. And what would the plot have been? Go back? There's not much that wasn't already covered.

I was 20 when the oldest film on your list came out, I feel old. What I will say once you are passed you early 30s you stop trying to be cool and actually watch what you like. So Bedknobs and Broomsticks and the Jungle book are brilliant disney films. I, as 40 year old, watch them on my own, without the excuse of children, just for the sheer enjoyment.
Oh yeah, the bit where all the old armour gets up to fight the Nazis:

Don't make films like that anymore.

Different adventures in different areas, essentially an entire series of Rosencrantz And Guilderstern without the medium awareness (well, to an extent)

Pokemon: Spell of the Unown (that's the third one). Watched it again about this time last year...damn, that movie is great. I mean, sure, the previous two I like well enough because Pokemon, but 3 is a legitimately good movie.

The Iron Giant.

The animation is brilliant, and it's probably Vin Diesel's best film (he plays a giant, naive, mute robot).

And the critics agree, so there!

This would be my second mention. I probably shouldn't like it because the whole 'historical whitewash' thing rubs a bit raw with kids films, but I find it completely impossible to dislike that film.

The "Oh, Shiiiip!" bit still makes me chuckle, even though it's such a feeble pun.

So I'm watching the Power Rangers movie since it happens to be on television right now and I remember liking it when I was like 8-12. But watching it now, I find the acting is horrible, the dialogue is atrocious ("Let's rock his world" is said as they are fighting rock monsters right before they roll a boulder on one of the said rock monsters), the martial arts are terrible, the effects look fake, the monsters look like they are claymation, and the big monsters at the end belong in the PlayStation 2 era.

What does all that equate to? The movie being way more fucking obscenely awesome than I remember it.

So. What movies have you come across as an adult that you loved as a kid and were they as awesome as you remember? Or do you hate yourself for ever liking it?

Also, now that I am a mature adult male, I have a far greater appreciation for Kimberly than I ever did as a kid. ;)
first off, kudos to you enjoying that awesome movie, i still quote that movie on occasion (usually "ooozeeee" quotes)

also, kimberly easily caused my first boner, hell she caused a boner before i even knew what boners were.

err...*stops ranting*

OT: There are too many movies, the child in me has never gone away, i still love all the cheesy badness of kid movies; hell i might even like it more now.

Treasure planet and small soldiers are fucking classic though, I would give anything to live in the treasure planet universe, and small soldiers was basically the perfect way to have toys and humans interact.

PLUS THIS BADASS ************.

seriously, that thing caused literal pain and welts when it hit you, not to mention you could hear it squealing when you pumped it up because of how much air pressure it built up, all you could think was "oh fuck..." to hear your impending doom pumping up.

probably one of the only kid movies i ever tear up on, never expected vin diesel to ever cause that in me.

I recently watched The Addams family and The Addams family values films starring Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston as Gomez and Morticia Addams and I must say that I forgot how amusing and quite well written I found both films to be. The cast is absolutely perfect in their roles.

I've never even heard of that movie. But that clip reminds me of Babes in Toyland when the nutcracker soldiers assemble to fight the evil monsters or whatever. lol
