Depends. I like fancy icecream, not the stuff you buy in tubs. I go to a gourmet icecream place that has chocolate icecream by Christopher elbow. He makes really good chocolate. It has more spice and flavor to it than normal chocolate icecream. I also like going to yougurtini (It's not yogurt, stop lying), due to the arrangement of toppings and flavors.

If my options are chocolate ice cream and no ice cream at all, I'll go without.

I pretty much dislike chocolate in all its forms. The only exceptions are peanut butter cups and peppermint patties/andes mints.

Its not vanilla, fudge or mint choc chip. But it fills a sometimes necessary niche.

Chocolate icecream is fine as long as it isn't the cheap stuff that leaves the taste of disinfectant in my mouth. I have however lost my absolute preference for it since childhood. A nice vanilla is probably what I would choose given the choice between it and generic chocolate icecream. To call it shit in general seems like going too far though really.

That said, possibly the best icecream I've ever had was actually white chocolate icecream from a dedicated icecream shop I happened to purchase from while on holiday a few years ago. That was some nice stuff. I must find some more of it one of these days.
