The media tends to feed off publicity and such and people feed off it and not see the real message it shoves into peoples minds, all these weight loss, models, pills, blah blah blah its all crap to be honest and I hate how they try to rule people who have alittle weight on them as if its a bad thing, like your not pretty if your alittle heavy which is not true, I think people focus too much on someone else's approval instead of being who they are and ruling out what others say cause what they say is an "opinion" not a fact"

Case in point: Chubby is cute too and you shouldn't down it

Edit: let me just make a quick note for people... 20-50 pounds over is Chubby depending on your body size , 50-100 is plain fat but again it depends I didn't want to add this part I was leaving it for interpretation but most newer comments seem to ask it depends well if it depends so much then please specif the weight size which again "depends"

As long as it's not to the point it'll effect their health or fitness, then sure, curves are fine.

I find that, to be attracted to some one, she has to have a smaller frame than me; so I don't really find chubby girls attractive, but that's because they're usually bigger-framed than myself.

well at least I put it in a nicer way, then he did I hate it how people call girls "chicks" and another sad fact is theres a difference between "chubby" and "fat" but people throw them together anyway and has anyone ever considered someone to be "big boned" maybe because there is such a thing

Fair enough, though you'd be surprised at how people wholly unrelated to the issue will get their backs up about the word 'chubby' viewing it with the same contempt as 'fat', under the belief that it's a veiled insult/descriptor. But yeah... 'chicks' was a tad tactless, could've been more... diplomatic, shall we say.

Having said that, with respect to these apparent groupings, it's difficult to say what's acceptable in polite parlance. Social mores... infuriating, but we can't get away from 'em...

Depends who you ask. Both mean "overweight."

but people throw them together anyway and has anyone ever considered someone to be "big boned" maybe because there is such a thing
No, there isn't. Bones will never grow so large so as to force the skin to stretch in order to accommodate them. Unless the person has a glandular problem (<1% of the population), then it is simply overeating.

That's not what people mean when they say "big boned". What they mean is that it's very easy to have a general bone and muscle structure which gives you a certain shape regardless of health.

I for example have a thick rib cage and fairly broad shoulders, the skin doesn't have to stretch to accomodate something like that because it's the way your body is naturally supposed to be, so despite that fact that I am mildly overweight this has always implied a vaguely athletic/rugby playerish look to me.

In the same way some people who are at their perfect healthy weight have a small second chin because of their facial structure, or that some people have wider hips. It's all just natural variance which sometimes looks a little misleading and is probably overused as an excuse.

I don't find chubby cute. Does that mean I should lie and tell myself that they are...? No, society hasn't tricked me into hating fat people or anything, I just don't find people who don't take care of their bodies attractive. OH LORDY CALL THE PRIEST I need to have holy water splashed on me or something for my fat-hating ways...

People have their preferences. When the media generalizes about fat people, generalizing back isn't helping either.

and skinny does not mean anorexic. Why people think this is beyond me.

I think the issue is mostly that people seem to think "overweight" = "slob".

And while I am sure most of us would agree that being a slob is really unattractive, just being overweight doesn't make you one. It can work the other way around, but not even that's a granted if your metabolism is like a hamster on caffeine.

Note, I'm talking about "normally" overweight people here, not morbid obesity.

If they?re only slightly chubby (still healthy, though) and are somewhat curvy, then yeah, I can still find them sexy. I prefer skinny girls, but each to their own.

Well, the word 'chubby' already sounds cute, but maybe that's just fat people propaganda.

Chubby can be very pretty, but it would have to be Kat Dennings-chubby not Chris Farley-chubby.

Eh...it's one of those things. Everyone knows the media has a very dubious fixation with skinny women and it's very foolish/dangerous, but it still exists.

Sorta like everyone says Michael Bay is a rubbish director, and the stuff he produces are still watched by millions of people who pay for the privilege.

Nothing new here.

Now what exactly do we call healthy, are we saying a healthy hip-waist ratio?

Take your average fit girl and toss 15lbs on her at most and that is as fat as I go. At 25 I always think "but how will she look in 20 years" when considering a gf, don't care for a 1 night. If she is chubby in her early 20s it's safe to say she will be the god damn hindenburg by 45.

it just shows that people are more willing to follow what others tell them rather then think for themselves and as far goes Bay's movies today people don't go to see movies for story anymore now its all about the pretty pictures lol ( AKA action stuff )

I don't think the American meaning of skinny is the same as the rest of the world's meaning of skinny.
