which game would you recommend? civilization or empire earth?

Neither, Medieval 2: Total War.
You get the civ style but without quite the same detail, and I like the battles more then I enjoyed Empire Earth.

Depends what one is after.
I personally don't enjoy turn based gameplay as much as rts, so I'd recommend Empire Earth to me.

I've sunk a lot of hours into that game. Tried many different mods (Stainless Steel being my favorite), but the horrible AI always leaves me wanting more. They say they've made great strides to make the AI better in Empire: Total War. Here's to hoping they did, because the concept of the game is great.

Did you try the XAI mod? Still not perfect AI but much better.

Oh and Civ is much better than Empire Earth.
