Poll: CoD Multiplayer Showdown

Of the two most recent Call of Duty titles, which do you think has the better multiplayer experience?

Me, I tend to lean towards World at War's online because it fixed a lot of my gripes with CoD4's multiplayer (especially the crazy bullshit helicopter with bionic cyber vision that can fire and kill you through three stories of cover). That, and it seems to me that the player base on World at War is mercifully less irritating as far as camping/modding goes, but maybe my only reason for liking WaW so much is because I'm inexplicably better at it than Modern War.

How about all y'all? Which one do you go for?

I prefer Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. You will find at least one weapon suited to you. And because of the weapon add on's, there is a bit of flexibility. Just recently, I got an ACOG Scope for my Sniper Rifle, which increases its capability to be used at closer ranges, but is limited against fighting from across the entire map. So, go with COD4.

I prefer Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. You will find at least one weapon suited to you. And because of the weapon add on's, there is a bit of flexibility. Just recently, I got an ACOG Scope for my Sniper Rifle, which increases its capability to be used at closer ranges, but is limited against fighting from across the entire map. So, go with COD4.

Well fair enough. If there's one problem I have with WaW, it's that the starting weapons online are all flaming piles of ass. Once you get up there though, It's enormously fun. Maybe it's just me, but I think that WaW multiplayer experience is way more balanced.

CoD 4 barely wins out. For me, tanks and MP40 sniping are the deal-breakers. However, CoD5 did address the issues of throwing back grenades by introducing Toss Back, and curbed grenade spamming with double frag instead of triple. Also it made noob-tubes something you earned instead of started with.

But CoD 4 has better weapons (not just because it's modern), better maps, and a smoother experience.

COD4 by miles. The only good thing I can think of about WaW is the maps are very pretty.

WAW had plenty of balance issues, the tanks and bouncing bettys being a few examples. They stole COD4s exact multiplayer and switched it so it fit into WWII and added more aggravation. The least they could have done is took out martyrdom.

This is true.

On the other hand, it's nice to not get raped by the P90+Stopping Power+Steady aim every time I step out of cover.

Also, is it just me, or has the grenade damage been significantly scaled back on WaW? I've noticed a huge drop off of random bullshit grenade kills (i.e. enemy stares straight up at random patch of sky, chucks grenade, kills you somehow) from CoD4 to WaW.

Future Warfare would be mind-blowingly awesome.

I've been praying for a console port of Battlefield 2142 for god knows how long, but a similar game as part of the Call of Duty franchise would be as close as those prays will ever come to being answered.
