I love me a diet lime coke. Pepsi is okay too, but if there is an option I will always choose coke, even if it is just a choice out of habit.

Coke. Coke wants to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony :3

But in all seriousness Coke tastes nicer to me than Pepsi, although Pepsi Max is nicer than Diet Coke.
*Brofist*

It's delicious. Plus saying I have a coke habit weirds people out to this day. My relationship with coca cola is much like Kenan & Kel's relationship with orange soda (dear god, that was a weird show)
I'd say I'm like that with Mountain Dew. Why can't we get it in the UK, Binnsy? Why?! Also Kenan & Kel is awesome.
Well, we can. But only the least impressive flavor of it. That said, there is a site I use for buying American foods. I'll PM you the link if you want.
Yeah cool thanks :) There's a couple of shops in Leeds that sell American food.

Coke for the taste, but if the other one is on sale or the only one with the light version on stock; I go with whichever.

RC Cola! [sub] I'll escort myself out... [/sub]
Ok, realistically pepsi although I drink Coke more often. There's not too much of a difference so it's about equal.

I'd much rather have root beer or Dr. Pepper than either of these options.

Fuck yeah, Dr. Pepper! Diet Dr. Pepper for me especially. It's the only diet drink that doesn't taste like shit.

That said, of the major sodas I prefer Dr. Pepper.

I hate both. Winners drink Dr. Pepper.

As of right now my preferred flavor is Coke Vanilla Zero.
Every single one of you should be given a badge of honor for enjoying the greatest soda known to man. Seriously, in my perfect society, people like you would be a sort of noble society, looking down upon the filthy common-soda-drinking peasants.

Oh, and the one guy who said Vanilla Coke, I just have to say that you are a god among men, sir. Vanilla Coke is the SECOND best soda known to man, but you've got serious balls to stand up and support such a scarce soda.

about 260 votes and 2/3 for coke.
A bit weird I think, thought it would be more even, voted coke myself.

If i saw a can of coke and a can of pepsi on a table and had to pick one, I'd be like "meh" and pick the one closest to my right hand.

Yes, the difference between coke and pepsi is less significant to me than the energy needed to move my hand an extra 5-6 inches.

You know, I've seen this asked a lot.

And oddly, it seems to reach the rather interesting conclusion most of the time that the majority of people in the US prefer Pepsi, while the majority of people in the rest of the world prefer Coke.

You might think that's just random, but there might be an actual reason for it. Apparently Coke sold in the US is made using High Fructose corn syrup.
It's a cute little explanation, but your base assumption is probably wrong. [footnote]http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/lifestyle/general_lifestyle/americans_prefer_coke_over_pepsi[/footnote] Also, Pepsi sold in the U.S. uses corn syrup (excluding limited available "Throwback" version). Most sodas use corn syrup for tax reasons.

It probably just comes down to the fact that Pepsi is just gross.
Well, it's not reliable evidence, certainly. It's anecdotal at best.

My point is this is about the 5th or 6th time I've seen a discussion like this, and if there is a preference towards Pepsi in these discussions, it's almost always expressed by Americans.

The bit about the kind of sweetener used is true though. (At least for Coke. What pepsi uses I wouldn't know). But whether this has any influence on the results is beyond me.

Pepsi uses corn syrup in the states, so it really can't have any influence. The U.S. has high tariffs on sugar in order to appease domestic corn growers.

No really, I cant tell a differnce between the 2, I like them both. Although, I prefer lemon-lime, so there.

(Although, I will admit, I like the glassed Coke though.)

I think you're not really thinking this through

Even if Pepsi uses corn syrup as well, the fact that the formulation of Coke is different means the taste could be different.

That in and of itself could influence the results, regardless of whether Pepsi also tastes different, or what the respective formulations are.

The only situation in which a change to the formulation of either of the two would have no influence on the results at all would be if both Coke and Pepsi tasted 100% identical.
