For school I've chosen to do an article on whether or not movie tie-ins are destined to fail at providing decent game play and actually be worth the money that gets spent on them.

I need to do some first hand research and where better to do it than here?

I know that there is no "right" answer as there will be exceptions for both sides but a general opinion would be brilliant and any other reasons you can think of would help to no end.

So, Escapists, are movie tie-ins destined to be quick, cheap and poorly made cash ins?

Spiderman 2 and Goldeneye were great, probably for all of those reasons. They had goo developers (hell, Goldeneye had Rareware), wren't rushed out to release before the movie, and weren't just cash-ins.

All the others are.

I've heard that Escape from Butcher Bay was a good one, never had the chance to play it though so anyone who has played it feedback would be great.

I remember playing Toy Story 2 and I always thought it was great, probably just because I was young though :/

It depends on the developer. Golden Eye was great, and I personally thought that The Incredibles game was pretty good (Well, the GC version, I didn't play other versions so I don't know about any changes there may or may not have been).

Depends on the game and developer. Its all well and good saying Spiderman 2, but look at spiderman 3, its was woeful. And spiderman 2 wasn't even THAT good, it was just the best spiderman game.

I think any developer could make a good tie in game given the time and freedom, etc Arkham Asylum. Most choose not to, or are forced not to due to licensing. Rushed games = shit games, tie ins = rushed games. Thats my logic anyway.
