Well here is the deal. Some of my friends support it some don't so I'm at the final frontier and asking the internet. Don't let me down you series of tubes.

I've never been good at science or math but I've found a new love for it and I want to study outside space and such. Problem is most of this is physics and calculus my weaknesses.

I've been considering giving up videogames for some time and television to focus on my Major (Planetary Sciences) so I can have a better job in my future. I've been thinking of taking a number of other degrees so I can help change the world...

What do you think? Give up gaming for my education?
(Eventually I want to do biology, Aeronautics, and Astronautics, and Finally Health and Science Technology..) Going to be focus on getting a PhD in these...
Gonna go to school for like 30 years..

It will be hard, merciless but in the end the rewards will be worth it.

Are you kidding mate?

"I've been considering giving up videogames for some time and television to focus on my Major (Planetary Sciences) so I can have a better job in my future. I've been thinking of taking a number of other degrees so I can help change the world..."

Education, your welfare, your future and your prospects all come before videogames and television.

Or are you in the media industry?

Otherwise don't even think about it, get your degree.

Give up gaming. You still have some time on weekends, plus holidays to play games if you want to.

But, like CrafterMan said, your education is your future. Don't mess it up now.

Look, I just graduated from college and I noticed in your post a key ingredient to your being successful in school: you love science and math. I started college as a math major, because I'm pretty good with numbers, but I discovered quickly that I just don't love math all that much. After a quarter or two of searching, I found I loved my economics courses. I had never considered econ as a major before, but discovering I really liked it set me on my way.

So yes, go for it. If you really like it and you would be willing to spend hours/days/years learning and reading about the subject, then you absolutely should major in it. You'll find time to play video games if you really want. I'd just recommend a few things. No MMOs, and play just a few choice items throughout the year. What'll happen is you'll savor the games a bit more, and gaming will become more of a treat. Mass Effect took me a few weeks to beat, and every time I spent time playing it I had a lot of fun. I never crammed in more than an hour or two at a time, but I got to play a game I was super stoked for.

Good luck!

Grab yourself a TI-84 and get started. I'm not good at math either but if I loved doing it video games would be out.

I hate to tell you but there really aren't any jobs in Planetary Sciences unless you go for your PHD, my roomie has both an Earth Sciences and an Astro Physics degree and she's working at safeway while she applies for Grad school.

... But really, do what you want. If you love Planetary Sciences, give up videogames for it.

Give up video games. Video games are awesome but they are, in the end, just a hobby. They are not worth giving up your education and your future.

Well. I'm also taking a technical support and computer animations course right now. So I can have something to fall back on if this stuff doesn't workout.

Going to get my degree in computer animation first to put money in my wallet then going to work on sciences and stuff.

You should drop out of all education to pursue a 'career' as a professional video gamer.

You don't have to stop playing all games but you should be cutting down for your education. You can still have some fun and play the odd game here and there but your should be studying before playing.

Sorry , it's just that this person might take you seriously and put video games over education .

In which case I'd question why they're in college in the first place.

Well It's not so much that videogames are stopping me.

It's that I'm really bad at math and videogames are preventing me from becoming good at math :|

and Lord of the Rings.
and The last wish.
and lots of books I"m reading @__@

I suggest focusing on math so you can have a nice life in the future (with a good job)
