I think it's bad, Comcast is an evil evil evil company. They've monopolized cable/internet in southwest Florida it seems and their service quality is just awful.
Well General Electric is evil too. They basically make their living on fraudulent finance. And they insured 85% of all the sub-prime mortgages.
Um, what? And where did you pull that statistic from? Two of the largest insurers of sub-primes went right under. GE had neither the capital nor the incentive to be able to insure deals by Wall Street or investment arms of Goldman Sachs, much less to be insuring a vast majority of the sub-primes. Also, such a thing doesn't prove them to be evil. Everyone was doing it because if you didn't, you'd be left in the dust and go out of business.
As for this deal, I'll be rather neutral until I see reason to think otherwise. The FCC added so many conditions to them buying a stake in the company that I can't see it affecting anything too drastic. They can't make NBC or any of their networks comcast exclusives, they had to give up management rights of hulu, and they don't get to pull control of their stakes in Netflix, so... yeah. We'll see.
