I usually combine various forms. I had more than enough promiscuous sex when I was younger with other partners who were similarly active to make me very very cautious about proper protection from STDs. As for the pregnancy issue, since nothing is 100% it's better to double up I think. I tend to take the rather irrational view that if the typical use failure rate of condoms is 15%, then for every 100 times you have sex there are 15 times when the condom does nothing. I'm well aware that it doesn't really work like that, but that's still a terrifying figure to actually contemplate. (the pill is 8% by the way) Hopefully the 15 times the condom doesn't work the pill will catch it and the 8 times the pill doesn't catch it the condom will.

My girlfriend uses the pill and I'm always paranoid until that time of the month comes along.

I've had real issues with condoms in the past. my girlfriends have tended to use hormonal treatments akin to the pill; injections every 3 or 4 months but I can't remember the name of the chemical. Curious that they both used the same method, come to think of it.

I always wondered why they never used IUDs. No hormonal problems and it's effective. If I was a girl I reckon I'd go for that.

If there was a pill for men I would take it.
ISn't some pharmacutical company developing a male contraceptive pill?

If so I wouldn't mind, it's less likely to fuck with my head than pills fuck with my girlfriends head. > >

EDIT: Until the time comes where we have enough income and stability to think about those kids that I'm relatively indifferent about. In the event of which: fuck it.

Condoms. Preferably condoms AND the pill with casual fun, then one or the other with a partner whom I trust.

That said, I am wanting a vasectomy at some point since children absolutely terrify me. I know I'm rather young and my mind may very well change, but until they develop a male version of the pill it'll still be something to consider...

You know, it would be interesting if someone came out with a pill for men. That way if one person in the relationship has bad side-effects from taking the pill the other could try it. And no one has to feel forced.

BTW: Pill is my preferred method, after a couple of mishaps with condoms im always paranoid now.

Contraception?
The pill

Contra aids?
A) Do not have sex with the dirty skank (by this I mean a walking encyclopedia of venerial diseases)
B) Condom if she doesn't look like a dirty skank

I was on the pill from about 16 to 20, but whenever the break week came around my partner would make sure he was always out of arm's reach. He only had to look at me the wrong way and I'd go nuts.
Then one day mum mentions out the blue that she used to have the Depo-Provera injection and that it stopped her periods completely. I switched to that and there was happiness all round. Me because I didn't feel like crap anymore and my partner because he didn't have to carry a riot shield with him anymore.

I think they are making a male pill, im sure its in trials at the moment. But any contraception is better than none and there is no excuse for anyone having unwanted kids. No one can plead ignorance any more.

I guess at a choice i would say either the pill, implants or injections - as this covers when momentary choices. Especially if those choices are made after drinking. ;-)

It already exists, but it's heavily unpopular due to it messing with your hormone housekeeping. Basically you need injection of testosterone, in your balls, every few weeks, otherwise you start growing female characteristics like growing breasts.

Needless to say few men were thrilled by the prospect of painfull injections to avoid a hormonal timebomb placed inside them turning them into somewhat of a transgender person.

I'd really like the contraceptives playing field to be somewhat more level myself, but that implanted pill for men just isn't going to take off.
Yeah I'm sorry but I'm not taking a needle to the balls. I'd gladly take a self controlled and convenient pill but... balls + needles = fuck no?

Basic principle of being a man, and I have no issue with needles, I went for my TB jab and told the nurse to shut the fuck up and give me the shot rather than waste my time with idle chatter, but in a more "do it! DO IT! STAB MY ARM!!!! AHAHAHA!!!" way.

But ball injections? O_____O No.

As a virgin so I haven't needed to worry about it, but I imagine something along the lines of birth control pills and condoms if me and the guy were not married. Just birth control pills if we were married.

And no I am not getting any form of implant. That shit is dangerous.

They actually are working on that and have made some progress. Different methods have been discovered. I read about one interfering with a male hormone in the forming of the sperm cells. Can't find the article tho. <link=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1394698/Finally-Pill-men-effects-shelves-years.html>here is one using vitamine A blockers

There is always the method of a few good kicks to the groin if you are interested.

I'm currently using the "All women are evil and I'm staying the fuck away from them!" method (coming off a bad breakup) and it's super effective. But otherwise, condoms - simple, effective and nobody needs to ingest hormones of chemicals of dubious effect...

Huh.

1. Didn't know you were a woman. You leanr something knew about the forumers every day!

2. I have never ever known a woman who says they prefer sex without a condom, and I've known a lot. You are literally the first woman I have ever spoken to who says condoms bother her.

If you don't mind my asking, why?

Really? Almost every woman I know who I've talked to about the subject shares my dislike.

First of all, the fumbling I mentioned earlier. I know it can be sexy when a girl puts one on but I don't like the stopping and whatnot.
Secondly, and more importantly, sensation-wise it's MUCH better without one.
And third, I hate when the situation arises where you want to have sex and you realise that you don't have one or they've run out.

They're the Buzzkillington of contraception, for me anyway.

I must be talking to the wrong women.

I do remember I once ended up buying three boxes of twelve for a single weekend with one ex-girlfriend. That relationship got expensive in so many ways.

As for the sensation thing. I remember vividly a conversation in first year of university (there were 8 girls to 4 boys in my accommodation) where the girls all said they preferred the sensation of a condom with some sort of lubricant added. I guess it's just personal preference.

On a completely unrelated note, I have a few old university friends to call...
