The Gamecube Controller.

Its so comfortable, and the positions of the buttons are all at good spots for the size of my hands.

It's either 360 controller or PS3 controller. The Wiimote seems to phallic and the keyboardpad is to 1990s.

So, the choice is yours: You can go with this, or you can go with that, or you can go with this, or you can go with that, or you can go with this, or you can go with that. I think you'll go with this, 'cause this is kind of phat.

I'm not a PC gamer so I'm not familiar with the keyboard/mouse set up. Even when I did play Starcraft and Diablo, I would always wish I could play those with a more traditional controller (born a console gamer, gonna die one)

My choice was the Xbox360 remote. It feels...right. Much more natural for FPS, no motion gimmick, just pure, simple gaming. If the PS3 controller kept the L and R buttons the same as the PS2 design, I would have been sound-as-a-pound but, no...they replaced L2 and R2 with marshmallows.

You are missing the most important controller in your poll. And I am speaking of the N64 controller. It is the most ergonomic controller, with all the buttons easily reached when the controller is gripped in the primary way, particularly easy to access are the L shoulder button and d-pad.

Out of the options in the poll, keyboard and mouse for general use, and then 360 for specific things it's good for (although the d-pad is complete junk, and the bumpers are kind of like the current generation's version of the Z button on the GC controller). Probably Wiimote next, because even though it can be annoying for some stuff that has badly done motion controls, for things where you don't have to point it at the screen it's nice to be able to lay down in a completely ridiculous position with your hands wherever they happen to land instead of having to hold them next to each other a few inches apart. It's awesome for being lazy. PS3 dead last, because I've always hated Sony's controllers for being incredibly uncomfortable for my hands. I could probably get over it if they'd put the left stick where the d-pad is and change the d-pad to not give me blisters after using it for 20 minutes, but they're determined to never, ever change it from the original DualShock layout, so screw that.

As far as "other", the GC controller probably ties with the 360 controller for the one I've liked most over time, at least for playing things that it has enough buttons for. It's not great for everything, but for many things I find it very comfortable. Most things older than that haven't aged terribly well, even if they were reasonably good at the time they came out, other than some old joysticks (like the kind that are hard to find these days, if you can find them at all). It's amazing how uncomfortable things like NES controllers are after getting used to modern controllers that aren't just rectangular bricks, even if they seemed fine at the time when they were new.

key board and mouse is the only controller worth it all games where the developer knows what they are doing will have customisable controls so i can standardise any button i want and make it better for my play style and its easier to get a mouse to go where it needs than an analogue stick

if i am forced to play on a console its the PS3 controller it fits in my hand and its easy to get all the buttons and its been standard since the PSX came out the 360 controller is to clunky and its so big my fingers cant get to all the buttons i end up with sore hands after 30 min of playing the awful controller is the only reason i didn't get a 360

and never used a wii mote so i cant make a comment on it

Mouse and keyboard, I've been gaming on PC for 20 years or so. "Mouse, all mouse, like finger on hand." I have a dual shock style controller, but I only use that for Sensible Soccer. I also have a basic Sidewinder joystick for Crimson Skies, Star Lancer, and the Xs, I like the mouse for Freespace 2 though.

Mouse & Keyboard is like a man with two penises entering a fucking competition. It's not fair to the other competitors.

I guess as far as real controllers go, the 360 controller is more comfortable to hold than the PS3 controller and the Wiimote is annoying.

360. That controller made FPS games playable on consoles. The way it sits in my hand and the layout of the buttons is perfect. I've hated the Playstation controller ever since I played Timespliters when the PS2 launched. The sticks just feel wrong and out of place, since I remember using the original controller. Damn you Ape Escape!

N64 Controller. Sure, it feels a little bit weird at first, but it's a good controller.

Modern Gen: (Picks up a Flame Shield) Wii Mote Cause the Wii is the only console I play games that use game controllers anymore (I mostly play The Beatles on Xbox, using the Plastic Guitar).

It depends on what I'm doing.

Mouse and keyboard? It suits for sniping and RTS.
Xbox and 360? They are a little similar. I get used to any game pretty quickly.
Wii-mote? A bit confusing, but motion-controls still has a lot of potential to tap.

The PS2 controller had L2 and, R2 buttons the same size and texture as the L1 and R1 buttons. The PS3 controller has significantly larger L2 and R2 buttons and they feel...rubbery kind of. Much softer anyway. Playing games what requires you to use them sometimes gives a feeling that your fingers can slip off of the buttons if you use them too much (which has happened to me before)

It really depends on the game I'm playing, I think. Stuff like Dragon Age and Oblivion are better with mouse and keyboard, but Gears or MAG are better with a 360 or PS controller.

I guess since I prefer to play games on the HDTV I would definitely pick the PS3 controller. I used to like the 360 controller but after getting my PS3 there was no looking back for me. It just feels a hell of a lot better.

I personally love the 360 controller. With just a few tweaks to the d-pad it could have been perfect.
