I know that BioWare has made a good Star WARS game (and a to-be-determined-if-its-good MMO Star Wars game) but as I think about Mass Effect, the more I think that BioWare would be a perfect fit for making a Star Trek RPG. It seems to me that Mass Effect has a lot in common with Star Trek as a whole (i.e. character driven space exploration story) rather than Star Wars (space fantasy war story), and was wondering if that could possibly come to fruition.

So, I ask you: Do YOU think that would be a good idea?

Possibly, but I'm inclined to say no.

I'm not sure Bioware's typically witty/snarky, anti-authoritarian, over-sexed characters would be a very good fit for the Star Trek universe, and if they didn't write them like that then they wouldn't be playing to their strengths.

If they did do a Star Trek game I suspect it would feel much more like the 2009 film than any of the tv shows. Whether or not that'd be a good thing depends on what you thought of the movie.

I'm sure they could, and I'd probably play it. But I'd probably prefer them to make another game that further explores the Mass Effect universe, since that's their baby and they're in control of the whole thing.

Really ? I don't remember Star Trek being about all these bullshit romances.
That's seriously off topic and kind of unnecessarily angry buddy. Also have you seen how many times Kirk fell for someone?

well depends on if you are one of those people with a bone to pick with bioware or not.

i would say yes, seeing as how mass effect was a pretty damn big success, out of nowhere i might add, they would already have most of the "origins" and stuff done for star trek, they'd just have to add a touch of their specialty to the mix and they'd have a decent star trek game going right there.

Yea, but you know Biowhore would 'expand' on that further and make aliens and even Spock a gay love interest.

Yes and we all know that this totally optional part of the game that takes up less than one percent of the game will run it into the ground right?

Old Bioware: yes.
Present day Bioware: Game, yes; RPG, no.

Captcha: wang ributcp.

They could make a pretty sweet Dominion Wars game if they put their minds to it.

Deep Space 9 has always been a bit more dark, edgy and emotional than The Next Generation or Voyager so I think they could do a decent job with it.

I am glad people are starting to finally see the light on Bioware.. they have sucked for many years now.

Yeah, you're probably right.

I'll go with no simply because I don't really like Bioware's games and don't think they're half as good at writing a compelling story and characters as they get credit for.

Could they make a better Star Trek game than many of the attempts throughout the years (especially lately)? Probably. Does that mean it would necessarily be good and stay true to the Star Trek universe? I doubt it.

Seeing how much Star Wars costs and how little we got in return, I would say Bioware is not a good bet anymore (thanks to EA).
