No, he's not a pedophile as Bella is not pre-pubesent.

It is however weird to marry an 18-year old girl when you yourself are over 100.

However it's not up to me to judge them for it.

Also it's just badly written books/movies so who cares?

do normal laws even apply to the undead? I mean if we resurrected my ancestor or something would he still have to go by Swedish law? would be odd for him.

or does your legal age only count if you are living? if thats the case then we really need to resurrect a 17 year old who has been dead for a 100, could be fun explaining it to him.

I dont know washington's age of consent laws, but im fairly certain bella's probably at the point. So no I dont htink edward is breaking any laws, and is definitely now a pedophile since bella is WELL past that age in the book.

though really she's committing the worse crime. Generally in civilized society its frowned about to be messing with cadavers, let alone go out screwing them. Even Da Vinci wasnt above that law.

as to the second point, the male body can continue to produce sperm into a very late age. assuming the body is healthy and kept well (and lets be honest, if youre counting 100 years of stress against him all his organs should in rough shape) and the only thing keeping him from doing so is because he lacks blood to push through ihmself (though their must be away because Im fairly certain vampyres breed) then theres no reason he cant still produce sperm.

really the problem with fertility lies in the women. they have a set number of eggs at day one and once those are gone the woman renders the equation useless in a healthy relationship. A period is just a disposal of one egg to bring in another. Or at least thats what I remember from my grade 12 honors anatomy. but then again im going for accounting so you can guess whats taking priority in my mind.

Yes, absolutely 100%

Age isn't your physical appearance, or how your body decays over time. Age is the number of years you have been alive, as it denotes experience in life or wisdom.

This is basically saying, it is okay if a 75 year old man sleeps with 15 year old as long as he gets plastic surgery and other miracles to make him "look 15-17". Would that be normal? Would it be "okay" so long as he looked the part. NOPE.jpg

"Ephebophilia" is the better term, those attracted to and having a fetish for late-puberty teens. Though all criteria is met for creep.

another point to bring up about Edward, he gets Bella pregnant right? how is that possible if his body is frozen in time? He should be well past the point of sterility and with the obvious lack of blood flow he shouldn't even be able to get it up much less get her pregnant.
Silly Princess, didn't you remember? Twilight doesn't care about the rules of Vampire lore. Why? Because Stephanie Meyer has money.

pedo, stalker, creep, old perv....the list goes on. i can't understand why the author (who's name i am so lucky i have managed to forget at the moment) would make him 118. then again the doctor is 909 years old but at least he doesn't try to bonk his companions, he treats them as business partners.
really. remove 100 years from Edward's life and i may just complain less

Well, if I understand vampire lore correctly...... He would cease to grow or mature in any form or fashion from the day he is turned, including mentally..... Since he will forever be physically, and mentally a 18 year old man/boy/thing I would say dating a 17 year old is perfectly acceptable.

The writer stated that vampire venom [which is what turns people] act as the body needed liquid such as semen/blood.

Yeah it is pretty creepy. I mean physically he may be a 17/18 year old, but mentally he's still 100-something years old, and still going to HS to find girls
Actually no, you're wrong.

It's stated in the books that vampires don't mentally age after they've changed. So mentally he's still a teenager, with all the physical neuropyschological baggage of being 17 and not having a fully developed brain.
Hm. Either he's incapable of being changed by all his experiences, which would make him a very strange person psychologically, or the hundred years of living he's gone through will still affect him as a person. So he can't ever be really like a normal 17-year-old.

He's not a normal 17-year-old. If you haven't been keeping up, he's a vampire. Just because his brain is frozen at 17 doesn't mean he doesn't or can't draw from his decades of experiences. People who are mentally handicapped and stuck at whatever age level do it all the time.

You silly person, he's no vampire! He sparkles!

But to reply to what you were saying, I know he's immortal, and I was actually agreeing with what you're telling me -- even though his brain might be stuck in 17-year-old-mode, whatever that is, he still won't actually be like a 17-year-old.

He's not enough of a well written character to bother asking the question.

Pedophile? Technically no.
Unless you're like me, saying "at her age it's called ephebophilia," I'm curious about why it's technically not pedophilia.

Pedo? No, at least not by NZ law since our age of consent is 16. She isn't a child
Fucking creepy? Definitely.

That really depends on your definition of "creep". I mean, if you include stuff like "literal walking corpse", "main diet is THE LIVING", "stalker", "overprotective", and "sneaks into your room and watches you sleep at night", then yeah, I suppose you'll be correct.

:p

Why is nobody mentioning Jacob the werewolf? Does nobody find it creepy that he is in love with an infant?

Honestly, Edward is by far not the most fucked up person in the book.
