Well, there is a fun, third-person shooter game called Infernal, where you play as an agent of the devil, and you get these cool powers from him, (like absorbing people's souls for health) and you kill agents of heaven. At the end of the game you kill an archangel, if remember correctly...

I liked that game, it's supposed to have a 360-port, some day soon.

Really, what could be better than killing a bunch of people?
Well, if that's the case, perhaps what you really need is a game that just lets you kill a lot of people, something I'm sure you'll be able to find quite easily.

It would save you the wait anyway.

How? I mean, unless you somehow make the character into a God, you can't kill an omnipotent being. Gods that were killed in GoW are not omnipotent and are NOT invincible or unkillable. Besides, he could just pick up Mt. Fuji and drop on your sorry ass.

That is, if you tried to attack him directly.
You have to kill his followers. That's where he gets his power.
It's a fact.
Nice one.

The game would probably set off the biggest freaking Christian version of a Fatwa ever, though.

They were considering making a film of The Preacher at one point (for those of you who are unaware, The Preacher was a series of graphic novels about a preacher who searchs for God to make him answer for his various crimes against humanity and for abandoning mankind, it also included things like a fetishist called Jesus De'Sade, an incestually inbred decesndant of Jesus Christ and a man with a face resembling an arse, called Aresface) so I could imagine them getting away with a game about you heroically going upside God's head with a crucifix.
I think they could do it, but I'm remembering the Watchmen game and cringing. If there was any game where you got to kill God, I hope it's based around the Preacher Series

Yes it could be done, but It'd have to be indie. I don't see any mainstream producers hopping on board with it.
This.
I wish it were a different case, that people would be fully open to any premise if it's presented correctly, but such is not and will never really be the case (at least not in my lifetime). This bothers me most in the inability to kill children in most sandbox games. I just think that I should be able to throw child-like bodies from the hood of my car in GTA. That or midgets, that's close enough.
What about Postal 2. I think you can kill kids in that.

The Christian god, maybe. But if you really want to set of a shitstorm, try Allah...

Uhhh Allah and the Christin god are the same god. Only difference is that Muslims follow the prophet Muhammed instead of Jesus.
Yeah, basically the three, major monotheistic religions these days all trace their lineage to Abraham. Jews and Muslims generally don't disregard the belief in Jesus as a person, and their "historical" backgrounds are basically the same, which makes them all Semitic in nature.

Which renders the Crusades and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict almost completely, idiotically pointless.

Maybe. They say Devil May Cry1 did that. Don't know, never played 1, just 3.

I voted no. I didn't think of indie games when i voted, but i don't think anyone owuld put money behind it. Then i read the thread and realized that i've only been thinking of western non-indie deveopers/publishers.

If it was a good game then it could be done. Don't think it would be worth it to make a bad game just to piss christians/jews/muslims off.

Well it may not be god, but in Nocturne by Atlus you kill a great light (that allows you to recreate the world), as well as the metatron(voice of god), and become the leader of satans army to march against the gates of heaven. So the idea has been used before.

Lol the Crusades first Crusade was intended to help Christians because a Church was turned into a Mosque in Jersusalem, but the every other Crusade occured because Europeans were exposed to the richness of Middle Eastern lands, one crusade merchants actually ATTACKED Constantinople.

How would you ever justify killing god in a game? For what reason would you have to kill god? What did he do?

I mean you can't kill god without motivation to do so.
