I have crossdressed, once.

It was for a charity pram race, myself and three friends all dressed up as women / babies and raced through the local village between pubs, in wheelbarrows whilst downing pints. One 'woman' lost the contents of his stomach before the end of the race, not a pretty sight.

I used to borrow my girlfriends gender neutral clothes all the time, jeans and stuff. Does that count?

I'm curious: how does a woman cross-dress as a man? by wearing jeans and a t-shirt? pants and shirt? shorts and vest? If those are the cases, I see cross-dressers everyday.

OT: I've never done it.

Yeah, I did crossdress.

No, I won't go into the details.

There are some characters I would like crossdress to cosplay as in the future, though (i.e Mirror's Edge Faith, though technically being a "trap" would be more closer to the truth).

I enjoy it once in a while, though usually only a skirt or heel boots when I go out.

Cause you know fuck social conventions.

Hell no. Manly men with beards don't cross-dress. That's just silly.

Now, BEARDRESSING!!!

Once. It was actually an assignment for a college class on gender. All of the men and women in the class had to cross dress as the opposite gender. It was actually part of your grade to do it.
Can women even cross-dress? I mean, it's not like women wearing pants is all that unusual nowadays...

Edit: well, I guess there are neckties and such...
Well, if you take a look at some radical feminist groups, they wear clothes that would be very masculine. That's probably the closest you're going to get, and it still looks better than most dudes in drag.

OT: Nope, never. It's not like I'd have any problem doing it, I just know that I'd look deeply silly.

Seeing a woman dress in men's clothes isn't as shocking as the other way around, not anymore.

Saying that, I must admit that I do indeed dress in men's clothes. All the time. :D

Even down to men's underwear. ^_^

...I get mistaken for a boy quite a lot. -_-'

I think once when I was 2 I found a dress and put it on top of my normal clothes for about a minute before I decided it was uncomfortable. Does that count?

I always wear guys clothing (t-shirts on a daily basis), especially during formal events (tie, suspenders, vest etc.) but I don't really know if that counts as cross-dressing.

Can women ever really cross-dress? At least to the same level as a guy cross-dressing? Or is it just that it isn't as frowned upon or disliked?

i just remembered something that fits this thread perfectly .... I'm a lumberjack and i'm OK :)))

OT: once for laughs but I don't see anything wrong with it. As someone here said, you don't know what freedom is until you put on a skirt :D Scots really are on to something.

I haven't really ever done it but I don't think I'd mind doing it once or twice. I'd probably do it for the laughs, not really for taste or comfort. My regular clothes pretty much consist of somewhat baggy T-shirts and somewhat baggy Jeans. I do not like to wear tight clothing for anything longer than a short time.

But yeah I'd do it, just so I could mess with peoples heads.

Never done it. I've seen a couple guys do so though.

One of them was way back in my grade school days; that guy wore a dress for Halloween.

And, I've seen a this crossdresser pass by a few times when I was working at a mall in my early 20's. And good god, was that guy *FUGLY*.

Oh great. Mentioning him has brought that image of him back into my mind...UGH >_<

So, since the Escapist usually seems to be pretty open minded, I think I'll ask about this.
Have you, ever, crosdressed? When? Why or why not? What are your views on it?

To open conversation, I'd like to say that my first experience with it was in Drama Club in High School. While I figured it'd be embarrassing, everyone else in the troupe, and many from other troupes (our play ended up going to the International Thespian Festival) said that it took real guts, and I got quite a bit of respect for it.

I had actually kind of enjoyed the experience.

Since then, I've dabbled with it. Halloween was fun...it actually ended with me getting my current girlfriend...

Also, for the purposes of discussion, I'd like to add that some odd 80% of male crossdressers are actually hetero, so any gay-bashing will NOT be tolerated.

A:KLFJDSIOFJSIOFJIOFJSDKLFJSDLF You have Airborne Toxic Event's album as your avatar. I <3 you. :D

Erm, anywho: my crossdressing story is somewhat interesting. I was hanging out with some friends at one girl's condo, and she struts in with a rainbow umbrella. Being the innocent child she is, she didn't ever think that it could be misconstrued as some sort of gay statement, for which we poked fun at her. She also had a camera and began to take a number of pictures. So, me being the socially intelligent person I am, suggested: "Hey, we should take LGBT pictures." It was an interesting idea and we set off to take these pictures.

Our three girls all sat together, complete with rainbow umbrella, and took their lesbian picture. The four guys sat together, one lying across our laps, and we took our little gay picture. Then we all got together for our bi picture, but we were soon stumped as to how we should go about doing our "Transgender" picture. So, me again being socially brilliant suggested: "We could just swap clothes."

So swapped close we did. I got stuck wearing some sort of Hot Topic gothic nightmare that the girl wearing it had to help me into (seriously, clothing should never be that complicated). We took our crossdressing picture and quickly realized that we should change clothes, much to the girl's dismay. Apparently our clothing is more comfortable and have vastly superior pockets.

What happens in the condo, stays in the condo. Until someone puts it on Facebook. xD

Honestly, I am not sure how to respond to this thread. I happen to be a transexual woman, meaning that I felt that my birth sex didn't reflect my gender so I have undergone medical means to reconcile that. When I was little, I would always wear my sister's dresses when everyone was asleep or out for the day, so some people might consider that crossdressing, but I consider having to present as male when I was little to be crossdressing.

My icon pic is how I look now (been on female hormones for 4ish years).

Oh yeah, I'm always open to questions.
