Spec Ops: The Line. It isn't that long, can be done in one sitting, but has an excellent story and lead character. There isn't much replayability in it so might as well get it out of the way.
Wow, way to sell it! Sounds like it's barely a rental... ;D
(I have no intention of playing but its because it's first person and I find them disorienting, but have no actual opinion of the game beyond that. It's just your comment made it very underwhelming).

It's actually in third person. Not only did you judge a game base on a single element, but you were also wrong about that element. Come on, you're better than that.
That was already adressed by another user.

Also, where did I judge the game on one element. I said I have no opinion of the game overall.
In the little bits I saw of it, it looked like a FPS.
So it's a TPS instead. Call the police, I made a minor error.
It's about dismissing a game for inane reasons. That's shallow. And it's very easy to get an opinion on it; read reviews and do research. I do that with anime suggestions despite no initial interest. Based on what I read I decide if I want to watch it or not. It's not like you're being neutral over a controversial topic; SO:TL is a well received game.

Voted for Spec Ops, but after looking through the replies here, it hit me that that might not be the greatest idea.
I instantly selected it from the list and voted for it, since it really impressed me, and i really liked it. However, "happy" or "fun" would not be the words I´d use to describe the game, and after playing it, you might not have the feeling to play another game quite some time. Spec Ops can do weird stuff to people, that`s for sure. It`s not very long, but I´d save it for a bit later. Maybe Catherine, instead? I´ve heard good things about it, and it sounds pretty interesting.

dismissing a game for the reason of it not being your preferred genera is inane now? since when?

OT: not sure, its a pretty decent list, but as some one else said, start with the weaker titles first the work your way into the good stuff like Dark Souls and Spec Ops

Hahaha that's me ;). I figured the OP already knew the praise Spec Ops had and quite frankly it really isn't that long and can be done in one sitting. Of course once you start playing you feel tempted to stop for reasons of spoilers.

I have a feeling I shouldn't work retail though xD.

Wow, you're pretty judgemental.
You're sounding more and more like a fanboy with misdirected rage issues throwing a tantrum because not everyone agrees with your "oh so wise" opinion.

Here's a protip:
I can dismiss any game I want for any reason I choose. After all, it's MY MONEY. That's what makes personal choice, personal choice. Who are you to tell me what I can and can't do. If I choose to not to play something because it's in first person and the first person view is disorienting to me, then who the FUCK are you to tell me different. Now stop with feigned outrage and get over yourself.

Personally, I don't play shooters. Don't like them in general. So why would I bother to look into Spec Ops when I have no intention of ever playing it - especially after your little tantrum here.

Besides as I stated before, and let me make it more clear for you for a third time:
[HEADING=2]I said I have no opinion of the game overall.[/HEADING]

Was that clear enough for you?
Good. Now go away.

Are you serious? Fanboy? Judgemental? You thought I was mad?

First of all, I'm not even mad. I have no idea why you thought was insulting you in any way. In fact, I intended my message to have as little emotion behind it as possible. Secondly, I am not a "fanboy" of anything besides Mass Effect. You could have said the same thing about the cameras of Mass Effect, Portal, or Pyroblazer in the way that you did, and I would have the same response. Third of all, you never said anything about your dislike for shooters in your previous post. Therefor I only commented on your dismissal of the game only because of it's camera perspective.

If a quickly moving camera makes you sick, that's fine. To go out of your way to be ignorant, however, is something that I cannot respect. If you don't like the shooting genre, that's fine, but at least read The Escapist's article "Spec Ops: The Line- This Changes Everything." At least watch the review "Extra Credits" spent two whole episodes on. It's an interesting story at least.

I didn't see that he didn't like shooters. All he said was that it was in the first person, and therefor it's not worth acknowledging. That's kind of ignorant.

I did the same thing with spec Ops for a while, and I still do it with FPS games with few exception.

granted, I've since gotten Spec Ops on steam, but that was only after hear about it having a worth while story and generally turning the MMS genera on its head.

But then Spec Ops is the exception to the rule isn't it.

Let's see.....
Donkey Kong Country Returns: A colorful platformer with a nice bit of difficulty while maintaining child-like innocence.

Dark Souls: A cliched fantasy world with apparent crushing difficulty. (never played it though.)

Resistance 3: The studio that made Spyro and Ratchet is slowly dying. This is apparent with the last two games they released which were " All 4 One" and "Full Frontal Assault" none of which were full Ratchet games. The only interesting thing in this game are the weapons while the color pallet remains monotone and the environment only half-tries. I'd call it a bland shooter.

Catherine: Great writing and story with lack-luster gameplay unless you're into puzzles. For people who hate puzzles it would have been just as good as a movie.

Shadows of the Damned: A true Suda game. If you're into that. I'm not, but I fully respect the man and recognize he makes fun games.

Spec Ops The Line: Third Person shooter (personal ew) about the army (a more generalized ew) that pulls a now cliche twist ending. Is it worth cracking the shell to get to the delicious if short-lived walnut(or insert your favorite nut) inside?

Playstation Allstars Battle Royale: A quick cash-grab and blatant rip-off by Sony who couldn't get half the licenses to it's games and forgot about some great melee picks like Wanderer and Jehuty. (Moving Colossus stage, hello?)
