I cannot say, mostly because these two factors are not inversely related.
True, but they correlate to potentially the same subject matter and can often times occupy the same space (e.g. something can be stupid, or it could be pointless. But something can be both stupid and pointless).

Not to say the cute/sexy debate it stupid and pointless however. It's just an example.
does anything in life have a point...?

I'm fucking adorable.
Not to mention incredibly modest (just joking with you flower).

On topic.

Cute. Because a cute lass pulls off sexy incredibly well.

My wife is the cute "girl next door" type and when she goes for the sexy look she pulls it off better than a lot of girls I see that just aim for the sexy look.

Sexy alone is meaningless.

Ask any bloke around my age thats gone out on the pull on a weekend and had a few drinks of shandy....... any girl looks sexy through ye olde beer goggles.

Cute and sexy is far better.

Cute annoys me. Trying to be cutesy annoys me even more. I just don't associate the quality of cuteness with people, that's what we have puppies and kittens for. That's probably why grates on my every nerve.

I rarely find guys sexy, either. I guess what I find attractive is "interesting" people.

No. No it doesn't. Just keep living life and buying crap in hopes of deluding yourself into thinking you're happy.

Speaking of crap, are you going to see Star War[sup][sub]TM[/sub][/sup]: The Phantom Menace[sup][sub]TM[/sub][/sup] in 3D[sup][sub]C[/sub][/sup]? Be sure you pass by a Wal-Mart[sup][sub]C[/sub][/sup] and buy tons of toys. And buy lots of popcorn and candy to stuff in your face while you and everyone else are shown insignificant, meaningless, distracting effects like cats being shown laser pens.

And then buy the Apple[sup][sub]C[/sub][/sup] iPhone[sup][sub]TM[/sub][/sup] 4S[sup][sub]TM[/sub][/sup] so you can upload pictures of you watching Star War[sup][sub]TM[/sub][/sup]: The Phantom Menace[sup][sub]TM[/sub][/sup] in 3D[sup][sub]C[/sub][/sup] to your Facebook[sup][sub]C[/sub][/sup] account via AT&T[sup][sub]C[/sub][/sup] 3G[sup][sub]TM[/sub][/sup] cellular plan.

I agree with the OP. Cute is the face, sexy is the body.

I can't really choose, I'd rather the person has both a cute face and a sexy body. I'm just shallow, I'll admit it. I once knew this really nice girl with a really cute face but she just didn't have a sexy body and I couldn't get past that. It's pretty much the only downside that's come with working out. I feel entitled to the other person having a nice body since I'm told that I do. I can sometimes settle on the face because I don't have oodles of confidence in my own.

EDIT: I also disagree with all the people saying that cuteness has more to do with the personality. I'll admit it plays a small role, but that's it. People can have a cute face and still be a horrible person.

personally i find the term cute to be degrading since it is mostly used for small children and small animals. So I prefer sexy. Plus there are various degrees of sexy. I don't just do physical appearance when determining how sexy someone is. Looks only get you so far. Personality weighs pretty heavily into that equation for me.

Cuteness ftw.
Cuteness is kind of hard to explain. Cute things are usually immature and childish, but not always. The more cute something is, the more my body turns off it's natural defences and goes "ZOMG UR CUTE!". Which is why I can and have spent whole days chasing kittens.
Sexiness is almost always a trait that mature people have. Maybe my man-child brain will always adore cute things, but I still do like sexy girls, just much less than cute girls.

For example, if a super hot porn star had 2 bits of string on, and was beckoning to me, but was sitting beside a basket full of 3 week-old kittens, I would sprint to the kittens as if the porn star didn't even exist.

I would haveto say both in moderation

I know girls so cute I would never be able to consider a physical relationship with them.
And some so hot that everyone and their grandpa piles in to get some, which in turn makes them incredibly bitter and twisted, you somuch as look in their general direction and they will be chewing your ass off for it.

cute can and will be sexy under the right circumstances
Hit the nail on the head, this man. Why have sexy, when cute becomes sexy at whim, where as sexy can only be sexy?

I would go for a cute girl personally, i've never really been attracted to women who are generally referred to as sexy and as such I find cute girls to be immensely attractive.

I will always go with cute, it's difficult to explain why. I just like cuteness a lot more. But like some of you have already said, the right combination of both, is awesome, but again, rare.

Cute all of the way.

I see cute being less about being small and adorable with big anime eyes, etc. and more about being sweet, kind, and endearing. That's the kind of person I want to be around, the kind of person I hope to marry one day. Sexy just seems fleeting and shallow. Cute lasts forever.

[/hopeless sap]
This pretty much.

I can see the sexy in sexy. My lower body reacts so to speak. But some part of me can't help but thinking it all seems fake. Cute just seems more real, more authentic. And I'm just a sucker for that.
