I tend to put a lot into Intelligence. Partly because I enjoy playing wizards. Partly because I enjoy playing an intellectual elitist douchebag.

Constitution is what I vote to be most important overall, as every single character needs it.
I usually play my favourite class, wizards, so an Intelligence of lower than 18 is usually horrendous in my eyes.
Second favourite class is rogue, so Dexterity for that, and Charisma. Makes for some good fun.

Also, DDO isn't the only game to use a Dungeons & Dragons rule-set. There are games which have come earlier and done it better. (Neverwinter Nights as a single example.)
Not an insult, as I like DDO, but it doesn't need to be mentioned at all.

i always try to get int/wis 18 regardless of how un-defended and unpowered or anything i become, must have! If they are 18 then i usually dump rest to dexterity or charisma to avoid battle and hits, for obvious reasons (guess classes i play :p)

Dex/Intel, since i prefer to play rogues when i can get my way (or as a cleric if the team needs it), but most of the time im the DM.

Strength-focused fighters are boring as hell to play.

Finesse fighters are much more fun, and can be cross classed with rogues for added poke-damage.
Depends on how you play them. I frequently play brawny fighters, but I mostly enjoy what it lets me do to the battlefield - uplifting tables, knocking over pillars, that sort of thing. Just because you're a brute doesn't mean you can't be clever with it.

Of course, just about any tactical behavior of the sort depends on GM reasonableness. It's hard to find a GM who hits the sweet spot between "no better than a clunky CRPG" and "license to cheat in defiance of physics and sanity".

My favorite stats are generally Constitution/Endurance and Wisdom/Willpower. It's hard for me to get away from the "stoic warrior-monk" archetype.

The type of DMing that happens in my group is not based around battles so, I'd have to go with Charisma. Often a good persuasion or bluff can get you out of any situation.

As both a D&D and DDO player, I can say it varies with the character class, but generally it's a wizard with high wisdom, intelligence and either dexterity or charisma.
